Re: First time at the track and man am i depressed

Ya i think that when i get the tune i will have them check the injector duty cycle to see what is up. if i need them i will get them after the tune. and even then i will probobly see if i can get some billet aluminum fuel rails as well.

because i like the way they look andi also wont need to modify the stock fuel rails for different length injectors ;)

Thats a lot of money for something you can hardly see. I'd just get a stock one to fit the injectors.

Its up to you, I was just curious. To each his own. :)

Ya, very true, i guess it will all come down to how much money i have after the tune is all said and done. I figure some nice polished rails would look nice under the hood and help to keep fuel temps down a bit. But you are correct the do get pricey!

Just had the car tuned seems the lack of a tune was the reason behind my terrible track times. Check out my post in the tuning section for the low down. :p

TUNE TUNE TUNE. Forget everything about launching and anything else you've been told until you get it TUNED. You can't expect to throw in a cam and have it run right. It will RUN, it just won't PERFORM. With an automatic it's even worse, because your shift points are FUBAR'd and the torque management system messes with your performance.

It will at LEAST run a decent time after a good tune, and with some practice, better. Good luck, get her running right.

Put it in drive and make sure you keep it floored through the entire run ;)

Check and see if your CAT is clogged, i had a bad problem with my car bogging when I bought it and was running with the stock cat. It barely pulled past 110mph and my 0-60 felt like it was 10 seconds. I changed the cat and it was fixed.

Also check for exhaust leaks, maybe you are getting some false KR. Maybe the cam can cause false KR without a tune??? just my $0.02

I've had a leaky EGR valve give me false KR and that also killed my time. 15.7@86 down to 14.9@93 when I fixed all that.

Well i was gonna head back to the track on the 26th but that fell through. Went to my fiances birthday party at her dads house instead. It's to bad I didn't go because it wa only 75 degrees out all day. Well anyway as it stands I am either going back on the 9th, 15th, or 16th. It all depends on when my buddy is working and he has yet to find out his schedule. I cant wait to go back, the car is so much faster than it was before!

Without a tune my car went 15.9 with the cam and 4.10s...with changing nothing but a tune I ended up getting down to 14.2

A couple things later and I'm much quicker than that, but tuning made a HUGE difference because I was getting 20* of kr from the cam.

That makes sense bout the retard due to the lack of tune with the cam. I knew i needed a tune i just didn't have the money till lateley, and i had to find a good shop to tune it for me.
