Wow, those numbers don't sound right. I ran a 15.4 on a stock engine with exhaust and intake only on 3.42 gears, 18" wheels and 300 plus lbs. of stereo equipment. Can't wait to take it to the track on the supercharger and minus the stereo equipment.
I didn't really get a good run all day. Had at least one thing go wrong on each pass as stated alomg with the new times. Once i get rid of the wheel spin i should be able to get my 60 foot times down. Gonna do a longer burnout in the water box next time.
Re: First time at the track and man am i depressed
As stated in my posts after my second set of drag times I run a 15.130 with TIRE SPIN in the 60 foot time. Does that not possibly warrant drag radials? If i am having traction problems which i have mentioned in my previous posts in this thread wouldn't that fix the problem? I'm trying to not get mad here but it seems like some people are not reading the whole thread before posting replys asking questions that i have already answered. For those of you that i know have read the whole thread , thanks. As for bigger tires i already have a set of 275/40ZR17 Goodyear Eagle F1's on SS rims. And the drive tire is a fresh one. And as for the launch i am working on that, i have only been to the track twice for a total of 6 runs. The first 3 of which was when i was un tuned the latest 3 were after the tune. hopefully this will clear things up.
I feel the need to create a timeline for this thread as well:
First time at the track. 7-15-07
Got the car tuned. 8-11-07
Second time at the track. 09-16-07

Wow, i feel exhausted now... :(
You dont need drag radials...that's the end of the story, you just need more practice.
You also say the "drive tire" which leads me to believe that you have an open differential....get an LSD if that is the case. Putting drag radials on an open rear would be silly, at best. If you arent cutting 1.9 60s on your street tires then you need more practice.
You've only been to the track 3 times. Once you get some experience under your belt and a sound setup you wont have a problem at all.
If you dont already have them, put LCA's and LCA relocation brackets...that will tremendously help your launch traction.
Drag radials are not the answer here...they would just be compensating for a poor setup, which you dont want to do.
Re: First time at the track and man am i depressed
No matter how much practice you get, drag radials will help. A setup that won't grip sometimes just won't grip. Your tires can only get so much traction. BTW the size of your sidewalls is actually hurting your straight line performance. Less sidewall generally = less flex = less traction. I experienced a deterioration in launch performance going to a WIDER tire with a smaller sidewall. Why do you think slicks have HUGE sidewalls?
It is a NIGHT AND DAY difference between my Mickey Thompsons and my street tires. It launches like a pig on street tires because it can't get any traction. I have a high stall converter though, so I probably need the DRs a little more than you do.
BTW: 14.7 w a 2.2 '60 is my best time on street tires. I have yet to run it with the MTs. Just from feeling the tires on the street, I know they will lower my times.
If you don't have LSD, as Floyd said, get one before DRs.

Re: First time at the track and man am i depressed
my 205/70R15 snows on steelies hook better than my 245/50R16 bfgoodrich G-force tires do on stock 5stars. Tall tires FTW, my next rims will probably be 15s as well so I can run something like 245/60R15 or 255/60
