Re: who has the fastest naturally aspirated car here

13s by no means are "easily done" seeing as how only a handful of people have done it, lol...but it IS doable with the correct setup and practice.

This is assuming n/a...its very easy to get a FI/Nitrous car into 13s as a dd.

Re: who has the fastest naturally aspirated car here

If you have an automatic with t-tops and an open diff containing 2.73:1 gears, 13s are far away and 14s are hard. If you're in a 5speed Y87 then 14s are very easy and 13s aren't that hard.

Re: who has the fastest naturally aspirated car here

No V6 fbody came with 2.73 gearing, and Y87 did not improve anything on the 5-speeds, they had 3.23 gearing regardless.

13's are not easy n/a....like I said....VERY few people have done it, but it IS doable.

Re: who has the fastest naturally aspirated car here

Y87 added LSD... my mistake, the V8 autos came with the 2.73s. I meant 3.08's.

          heads + cam + tune + supporting mods = 13s

I am doing low 14s on a stock motor, no headers. 1997 camaro y87 5speed hardtop minus spare tire and jack, given some snow tires on 15" rims, cold air intake, EGR delete, stg3 clutch, alum. flywheel, solid driveshaft, stock manifolds, exhaust dumps after cat + 154,000 miles = 14.3@97 best run. did 14.9@93 on 2 piece driveshaft, stock airbox and stock exhaust manifolds.

          I did the 14.3 on a 1.9 60' and I did the 14.9@93 on a 2.15 60'

Give me some good headers, slicks, gear, a tune and another 100lbs off my car and I will hit 13s.

Driver accounts for a good amount of what you can do on the track. 500rwhp turbo camaro + slicks + ****ty driver = 13s. Heads/cam/tuned camaro on some nice slicks and gear = 13s with a good driver.

I am also at a debate whether or not my car was stock when I bought it. I think it was personally although others argue it was at the least a factory freak.

4500? My race weight is 3370lbs exactly with me in the car. I weigh 165-170. Car was empty by the way.

Re: who has the fastest naturally aspirated car here

yeah my car has absolutly no weight reduction at all, and im not ashamed to say that i weigh anywhere from 250-260, im a big kid and its a big car, plus my audio system, heavy speakers, sub box, 10in sub, wireing kit, amp. the good stuff and its t-tops, and i know that glass weighs more then some sheet metal and some insulation. the thing is a tank, but like i said 15.4 in a 4500lb car aint bad at all, and it handles like a dream.

All I'm saying is that 13s obviously arent easy to do in our cars since only a handful of people have done it.

When 13s become the norm n/a...THEN it will be said that 13s are easily done.

I'm pretty impressed that you ran 14.3 with basically no mods and got a 1.9 60 on snowtires...I think I'd have to see that slip to believe it. That's basically an intake/exhaust (minus headers) car with no weight reduction.

Theres no way your car weighs 4500 pounds.

Re: who has the fastest naturally aspirated car here

I just think it depends on the car alot...

1997 Auto V6 convertible fully loaded
                          Vs.
1997 5Speed V6 with stock LSD, hardtop, minimum options, stock dual exhaust

The difference between the cars can be 10rwhp and 500lbs. Low 15s stock (I've heard as low as high 14s, I did 14.9@93 before I did anything to my car), and I've seen the auto verts do low 16s.

To go to a further extreme, '94 auto v6 vert versus a '97 M5 Y87 hardtop. that guy with the 94 will not see 13s without either FI or the LT1 mod, and the '97 guy (me) can see 13s somewhat easily. For the most part though, you are right, figuring many F-bodies are t-top autos with no weight redux, 13s can be a higher goal, but not impossible.

...Hoping to get a fresh set of timeslips, I can't find any of my slips, even my first ever run in the car of 16.9@89 :)

                          4500LB f-body: auto t-tops = 3500lbs + 200lbs of stereo + 100lbs misc. stuff + 260lb driver = close to 4k pounds. 15.4 is not bad at all.

I ran my car on almost an empty tank, wore light clothes, took a nice leak beforehand, let a little air out of the rear tires and scuffed my tires (no crazy burnout). I figured to myself the track was prepped really well and melted rubber might not be as sticky as slightly softened rubber.

                          Snowtires = Kelly magna-grip winterforce 205/70 on 15" steelies

Well if you ran that time that's awesome, but for personal satisfaction I'd still need to see a slip :) That is a pretty awesome time.

And that still doesnt equate to a 4500lb fbody. :P

ok the sticker on my car door says the car weighs in at 4160 by itself, how i dont know, but then i have probably about 150lbs of audio, and me in it at the track, so 4160+150+250=4560!!!!!!! unless im looking at the wrong sticker thats what my car weighs at the track. and i know im not reading it wrong, i know my f-bodys
