3.4L at the track

Ok I dont know what is going on But Today i went to the Track and well
The best i got was a 17.188 @ 78.194 :(

Here is what i dont get it... 3 years ago well it was on Dec. 2004 was the last time i took my car to the track and i made a 16.64? @ 79.???
It was not a one time thing i made 16.6?? like 3 times that night and All i had then was Flowmaster and K&N-FIPK and reagular tires on 16" rims

Now I got A cut-out, i have no CAT, I have Rear 17 x 11 Wheels with 315/35R-17 Nitto NT 555R Drag Radial and 17 x 9.5 on the front

So where did i went wrong? BTW is an Automatic

I think that if you ran with your cutout closed and on 16 inch wheels you will be faster

Also lose the DRs they are slowing you down. The only time you need them is if you are at the track and roasting them off the line. with the drs you are prob. leaving on a dead hook this is bad bc it boggs the motor down lowering the rpms which means less power to the ground. It is good to have a little tire spin off the line.

I for got something my car used to be really low because the springs were burn to lower it down by previews owner so the car as u can see in this picture cant really go any lower



Today the car is really high since I got all the springs replace with original ones
But I still need to change the rear shocks since I’m sure they are no good after being in the car since it was low. Here is how it looks now



The main reason I mention this is because I used to be able to do burnouts with both tires all the time BUT now that I change to this new wheels and tires and the original springs I can only spin the passenger site tire and the cars kind of leans to one side and I can only get it to 2500 rpm because if I go a little more one tire starts spinning

Went you are at the track you want a little bit of tire spin, and according to you. You dead hook off the line this is bad for your 60' times.

Also even if you do have bad shocks it has nothing to do with you performance at a dragway.

Bottom line those tires are too much for your engine!!!

yes I guess u right this tires are alittle to much.

Btw my best 60' today was a 2.350 which i have no idea if is good or not

My cosin with this 95' 3.8 did a 2.250 and 16.458 @ 82.126 (his car is all stock)

that is NOT a good 60

those DRs are killing you. the 17x11 wheels arent helping either. thats alot of extra rotating mass the car has to get moving.

I can vouch on the tires and wheels. My buddy has a 3.4 camaro with the factory wheels and Ive got the WS6 17's with some fat yokohama es100's and my car is noticeably more sluggish because of the extra weight. Ive got more mods then he does too. Its a sacrifice for looks for me.... Your car does look sweet with the zr1's though :bowdown:

Yep, since I put the new wheels the cars does feel heavy.
But just like you, I did it for the Looks… :cool:
Anyways I still have my 16” rims, I just need to get 2 tires and I will go again

Try to see if there is a difference with the cut out open and then closed.

Yes I will do that...I might go next friday if i find tires for my old rims or in 2 weeks at the most.

I went 1.60 60' on 255 drag radials.....315s are insane.

Throw on some stockers and see what you can do...the rotational weight alone is a huge loss in the 1/4.

Whats r your 1/4 mile times? and do u have a 3.4L or 3800

I still got my Chrome Salad Shooters, so im going to look for some tires tomorrow and if i have time i might go to the track too.
What should i get 245, 235 or 215?

i've heard of ppl in bone stock 3.4's running as high as 16 flat and 3.8's runnin as much as 15.7's...would it take a gear change to run this or would a good shop tune pull that out?
