Hey...been busy with a new job and such now that I graduated. Heat has been keeping me away from working on the bird too.

This car is a 3.8 and has run a best of 12.2 on a 100 shot with a not working 2-3 shift (had to let off the gas to get it to shift).

A friend of mine runs a 235 mickey thompson drag radial on his stock motor 3.8 and has cut 1.8 60s...so you definatley dont need a lot of tire to get a lot of traction. You want to have the smallest possible tire that allows you to hook if you want to go as fast as possible.

i've heard of ppl in bone stock 3.4's running as high as 16 flat and 3.8's runnin as much as 15.7's...would it take a gear change to run this or would a good shop tune pull that out?

Gears make a HUGE difference in manuals and should be one of the very first mods done for a drag car.

In autos it's more about the torque converter/gear combo that really wakes them up.

I dont know a lot about 3.4s, but I know 3.8s can run considerably better than 15.7 stock. I think I've seen some 3.4s run atleast 16.4ish stock. It depends on the weather, practice, and track.

My friend Jordan ran a 15.0 with just a cam, intake, and exhaust on his 3.4. That was his first and only time racing it too...could've gone quicker I'm sure with practice. It was a stock-geared m5

You can't compare a time you ran in Dec with a time from Aug, the difference in weather conditions alone can account for half a second or more.

And as everyone else has said, the wider wheels/tires are slowing you down. I ran .2-.3 slower with my ZR1's then with stock size.

Best I got out of my mostly stock 3.4 was a 16.1 @ 84 with ideal weather conditions. I haven't had a really good day at the track yet this year but managed a 15.4 @ 89.
