  • How can I improve?

Ok just got back from the drag strip the other day...I have to say Im kind of disappointed with my times. I ran 15's all three runs, and I want to know how I can improve my times without just throwing money at it, and staying naturally aspirated.

    Heres my 3 runs

    R/T... .652
    60'... 2.370
    330'... 6.672
    1/8... 10.218
    MPH... 69.81
    1000... 13.24
    1/4... 15.804
    MPH... 87.36

    R/T... .605
    60'... 2.315
    330'... 6.563
    1/8... 10.081
    MPH... 70.30
    1000... 13.086
    1/4... 15.648
    MPH... 87.50

    R/T... .253
    60'... 2.404
    330'... 6.720
    1/8... 10.273
    MPH...69.62
    1000...13.303
    1/4...15.891
    MPH...86.58

    My car 1996 3.8L A4 camaro

My mods... ram air, full exhaust including headers, ZZP waterpump pulley, MSD wires, MSD coils, NGK iridium spark plugs, aluminum driveshaft, PCM4less tune. I ran on my street tires which are Hankook HR II's 245 wide on the stock 16 inch rims

I would have thought that I would have been high 14's like 14.8, 14.9? Can someone help me analyse these slips and help point me in a direction for improvement...this was my first time at the track

    thanks.

    1996 3800 Camaro - 13.43 @ 100.77 mph

How do you launch it? Do you brake torqe it to the stall or do you just stand on it on green?
Also what gear do you have in your rear end?

The first two runs I brake torqued... Frist run was to about 1400, the second was to about 2000 the last run I have listed I just stood on the pedal...I was only able to make 3 passes so I wasnt able to try other things...I had no spin on any of the launches

You would benefit from a better gear.
                    A 3.42, 3.73 or 4.10 would get your '60 times down.

                      Practice Practice Practice.....
                      Your 60' can definitely improve.
                      Work on the launches.

Try flashing the converter next time out
Hold it just above idle then mash the gas while releasing the brake.

Every converter in the auto is a little different you just need to find the sweet spot for yours.

If you practice and manage to cut a 2.1 you should be LOW 15s.

You want to go faster for money look into gears, LSD, and a larger stall converter.

So how do you know if you've flashed the converter, like how will the car react that will tell you? How much is just above idle...I know there all different but a ball park figure might narrow down my search for it

                        thanks.

                          X2...

I have never heard that term before.
Did a search on "Flashing" but it only pulled up electrical threads.
How exactly does flashing work and what does it do?

I heard something about it before...just not 100% clear on how to know if you've done it or whether or not you've just brake torqued...
