  • 13 second N/A runs

Im curious to how many guys here are running in the 13's just bolt on only...no weight redux or very little weight redux...Im prolly goin to the track sometime in may and Im looking to break 13's with my full bolt on N/A car probably very minimal weight redux (spare tire, jack, and seats)

I see a few 13 second NA runs in the timeslips page but the details arent working so Im not sure what these people had done...

a heads/cam car with supporting mods could do it.
your car isnt going to be to close to breaking 13s

        Re: 13 second N/A runs

You will need a decent stall converter, light weight wheels/ drag radials, gears, cam and quite a bit of weight redux. Heads would help too, but FloydSummerof68 ran mid 13's on stock (ish) heads.

So far the only people to break into the 13's have what I mentioned above (N/A). Lance aka Wickedsix98 ran 12.48 N/A, but that was pretty much a full race car with LOTS of custom work (including a fully built high compression motor and custom grind cam).

13's in an N/A car are pretty tough and lots of weight redux is a MUST.

Nope, no one with stock internals and full weight has ever ran close to a 13-second pass. Weight reduction, and lots of it, is the only way you're going to do something like that

Little G went mid 13's but with extreme weight reduction, gears, suspension, K member, wheels and I know alot more.............

Only thing not stock about my heads were the springs/retainers to support the cam (you probably knew that...just clarifying). It was stock in terms of port/polish/compression.

I went 13.53 but had a cam in the car and about 200lbs weight reduction (was NOT radical at all...full interior minus rear seats, passenger seat (for that run), lightweight batter, and spare/jack...other weight reduction came from wheels and suspension.

My friend, Matt (02pewtersix) is the only other 13 second n/a car with STOCK motor that I know of apart from littleG (who I dont think is racing anymore) and his car is pretty light (right at 3000lbs raceweight I believe) gutted interior, hood pin conversion on stock hood, draglites, lightweight battery and no AC...still has plenty of weight to take out behind the dash....he went 13.63 (I think it was 63...maybe have been 61) the same day I went 13.53. We have done a good bit of tuning on his car to get it to run what it does.

You will NOT do it with boltons unless you put a BIG gear (4.56) and a BIG converter (4K) and are atleast on skinnies and drag radials and are running in the most incredible air ever...then it would be POSSIBLE, but not probable.

Idk I think if you have a good P&P job on the heads/intakes/etc, + good N/A cam, + bolt-ons (obvious stuff like intake/exhaust), LSD with sticky tires, and a good tune (advanced timing out the *** on 93 oct.), I think it is definitely possible for, at LEAST 13's, if not lower.. at least here in FL during the winter, because I am at sea level. Alot of nearly stock camaro/firebird (00-02) V6's around here run around high or mid 14's.. As in either just intake exhaust, or that + other bolt-ons.

With just LSD, high gears, and good wheels alone will improve your time drastically, especially if you have the power and need the upgrade.

I coulda swore that guys with only a few bolt ons were running mid 14's....I was thinking I have
                    alumininum d/s
                    3.90 gears/lsd
                    pcm tune

                    w/p underdrive pulley
and I am gunna have the agx adjustable shocks on...
couple that with no spare tire, jack, back seats or passenger seat and I thought I would be able to hit like 13.99...Thats what Im going hoping to do...its a 96 A4 but its been pretty babied

Not mid 14's. They usually run 14.9's though, not close to 13's.

So? the faster you go, the more energy it takes to go faster than that...in other words, going from 15's to 14's is NOT like going from 14's to 13's

No, not gonna do it. You've made no mention of DRs or a stall, so your 60' are going to keep you out of the 13s until said situation is remedied

last year I hit the track I didnt have any weight redux...had my subs and amp in the car....and no gears/lsd or shocks....I had the original shocks that came with the car at 186,000km...(there toast I know)

all I did was dead hook the car on an open diff....bogged like you wouldnt belive I ended up running a best of 15.6 @ 88.5 mph....my 60ft times were brutal...

                          R/T... .605
                          60'... 2.315

                          MPH... 87.50

anyways...I swear the car had a lot more in it

Thats why Im hoping the the shocks and gears will make a huge difference...Im hoping for 13.99 or better...or at the very worst something like 14.00 or 14.01...

I doubt you dead hooked on street tires, 3.08 gears and an open diff. You may have bogged, but not necessarily dead hooked.

You can keep going back and forth, but until you lighten that pig, give it gears, tune, and either a shot of nitrous or cam...get cosey in the 14's man.

Ok. You say your car was a pooch before going 15.60.

Aluminum Driveshaft - did you replace a 2 piece? Going from a 1 piece steel to Al doesn't do much
                              3.90 gears - For a 10 bolt? Thought those were a Ford Gear for a 8.8 or 9 inch....
PCM Tune - Who did it? Tune it yourself?
Short Ram Intake - Home made? Ebay? minor gains
Headers/exhaust - Which headers, what exhaust?
MSD coils/NGK plugs - not really adding power here
                              W/P u/d pulley - you'd be better off running a short belt with no a/c or p/s
AGX shocks - really? hmmm. your worn out stockers might work better for drag racing

Basically it comes down to the fact that the 96 car has alot of things working against it. You really need the better intake manifolds, and tuning abilities of the later cars. Do you have a 97 PCM running HP Tuners or something else? I'd be willing to make a bet that you would go 14.80-14.90ish at around 90mph.
