i'd be scared to run mine because of the mileage on my car, plus my hellacious lifter tick...i'd be scared to think what running my car full throttle for 16+ seconds would result in lol
but yea dude, as long as you arent driving crazy, slippin the clutch at 5K and shyt, you should be fine
I said if you have taken good care of it, and its in good condition, and I suppose if your not retarded and do something really dumb (like trying to shift an auto manually or something)...the ODDS of you breaking something are slim to none.
Things break more often when you have big mods, and you are trying to run more (max) boost, or trying to hook a 300-400hp car, or nitrous backfires etc...
With mods like what he has, and what I have, racing the car is not much harder on it then opening it on the highway
That being said if you dont have everything in check, and regular maintenance done, then yea that little bit of stress can break something, but that thing that broke was most likely going to break very soon anyways.
In the case of broken trannies...shouldnt happen if your not being dumb, and have your maintance/fluids up to date (and your not running on one that is already slipping to begin with)
clutches will sometimes go if its already on its way out...etc, etc, etc...
once again, thats horse ****. all it takes is a good sticky launch if the track is prepped well to break a axle. ive watched plenty of well taken care of stock cars break. hell a few years back i watched a v6 fbody throw a rod, it was stock and had maybe 50k on it and taken well care of. cars arent built from the factory to take the stresses of racing full throttle (most anyways, fbodies definately not or gm would have spent much more time on things like rear ends, shift forks that dont bust, and the suspension, and if you dont believe then why is there such a huge *** aftermarket for them?)
theres a reason most people have a DD and a car they have fun with, its because theres always going to be a chance something will break. it doesnt matter how well maintained a car is or how much mileage it has, drag racing puts alot of stress on ALOT of parts.
current car- 95 Trans am- bolt ons, parked and collecting dust. why? because **** it

Umm wrong.. racing is hard on a car regardless of whether it's stock or modded.. If you race things break.. proven fact in fact proven over and over and over and over again..

Ive yet to see a stock v6 break (thats been well looked after)...Like I said if you break something on our cars, the way he is racing, chances are that, that part was going to break very soon...

ok...
Bib no offence man, but i have yet to hear or read about a v6 busting the rear end being almost stock, if you can enlighten me about one then please do so.
As far as that rod, what was the reason for it going? Like I said if there are underlying issues, then yes those could break, hence why I said, if he breaks something at the track the way he is, that piece was going to break soon anyways...
Just do it and don't worry about it. These engines are tough and can take a beating. The 15 or so seconds you spend at WOT is nothing compaired to the testing that engines go through during durability testing when being designed. They run them at WOT for days. The only way you could hurt the rear at stockish power is if you have bad suspension parts and get wheel hop (wheel hop is the only way I have hurt a rear axle, but it was at a much higher power level than stock) which really beats on the gears.
I have driven my 120+K mile stock engine trans and rear car to the track and back several times, have made well over 20 passes (Mostly 12's and a couple of 11's) in it and have not hurt it yet at the track. Not to mention I beat the snot out of it all of the time. It kind of scares me, but it has not let me down yet. You should have no problems at a stockish power level, though.
dont be scared of breaking the car, it should be just fine. heck i had a honda about a year ago that i wanted to get rid off but my dad wouldnt let me so one night i got pissed and tried to break it, ran it off the rev limiter in 2nd for a few seconds, running in 4th gear i clutched it and revved it to 5K and drop the clutch with AWD, nothing happened..... it was stupid but i still have the car and it still runs like new. i dont beat it anymore, im accually glad to have it with gas prices like they are. plus my buddies think its a sleeper, i beat my buddy's v6 stang with it. and countless domestics, i pissed a guy off with a ZR2 blazer, i loved the look on his face when i pulled 2 cars on him between lights, came up to the next red and he looked over at me like WTF, his woman was laughing in the passenger seat. its pretty quick for the big box that it is, i can get rubber in 2nd with AWD if i want to. they keep buggin me to take it to the track to see what it will run... but i want to run the camaro before i try to race that thing

Ive been racing for years no problems. dont worry about it. most cars that u see broke at the track seem to be a all out drag car that has just tons of passes on it. Im surprized how dont see more break downs. A stock car your pretty safe.
