pretty much stock, flowmaster 80/hi-flo...that's it. the car runs really good and shifts great, so i know i'd be gettin as much as i could out of it.

so yea, a friend of mine wants me to head out to a local 1/8th mile sometime and see what my car will run. i'm actually pretty curious to see what it'll do, plus several people on here have told me to run it just to see what a 200K mile camaro runs lol. He's convinced i could hit 10's, but from what i've seen on here, 10's in the 1/8th mile is a 15-low16 second 1/4 mile pass, right? and i KNOW my car wont hit low 16's in the quarter...about what should i expect to run?

also, what are some things i need to check and double check before i run it? the cars in overall good shape, but i'd like to know what some potential problems might be on a high miles car like mine. I've never ran my car, so i really have no clue how this will go

    what should you check?

    a. where you can get a cherry picker

    b. where you can get a new motor

    c. whether or not you can put all that in at the track after you blow yours up.

    just kidding.

make sure nothing leaks. make sure nothing knocks. make sure nothing rattles.

just think of anything that could go wrong and prevent it from happening.

it should be fine if nothing noticeable is wrong, my friends got a 92 thunderbird with 250k, runs it hard all the time, and it still runs like a champ... the interior is a POS though

yea, i figured out my "tick" to be an exhaust leak rather than loose lifters like i thought, so i know those are good now...i'm just a little apprehensive about holdin' the car WOT for that long, i guess just cause i've never ran it before

If you have any suspicions of something breaking, don't risk it. Make sure the oil is topped off and anything that's known to wear/leak/break/etc is in good condition before you leave. Make a few short runs out on the street if you want (not street racing, but just some hard acceleration from light to light) to make sure it'll hold up if you want.

well yea, i'm pretty confident that it'll hold together. if it doesnt, i cant exactly complain when something breaks after 215,000 miles. i did a couple WOT pulls on my road today and it felt really solid, shifting great and wutnot. i think it'll be fine...if i decide to run it i'll post up how i do, thanks guys.

one more little question...i know most people would tell me to be showy and do as big of a smokey one wheel burnout as i can, but is there any reason to do a big burnout before i run? i dont see any huge traction problems from 160 horses lol, and it's an open diff, so it isnt like i'll be lightin' up both wheels. would just a little spin to sling the dirt off be good?

in your situation.. i would just completely avoid the burnout box. roll around it if you can, if not then roll through it and just dont worry about it. i dont see you having any traction problems. the reason for the burnout isnt for show though.. its to get your tires nice and hot/sticky so itll stick when you launch. but like i said.. dont waste your tires. just see what itll do :)

yup, its for launch... on street tires... you should just not do a burnout

i knew what the burnout was for. i asked cuz i've heard that on street tires it's good to do a small burnout to sling any dirt or gravel out of the treads...i'm just gonna save my transmission the trouble lol
