    Re: LETZRIDE's track progress

will do...I found it kind of odd that my last pass I actually got 2 degrees of knock just before going into 3rd gear...but yet it was my fastest run.

I was upping the spark by 1 degree in the WOT cells then smoothing it right before each run, then logging all the results...

Also when you at the track try not to get in line behind front drive cars. They pull water up to the line. The best cars to get behind are rear drive cars with slicks. When you pull into the burn out box, if your running reg radials, go around the water and do your burn out dry. Wait to start your burn out until the car in front of you has left the line.

I always drive around the water, but I wasnt doing any burnouts...I thought it doesnt help street tires?

Wrong. Burnouts do not help with street tires. Drag radials, yes, but a true street tire, no. If you want to spin them ONCE to get the dirt and dust off of them thats fine, but a full burnout is not beneficial at all.

Automatics dont trap as high as manuals and you have 3.90 gears which also slow your trap speed a little bit. Dont worry about traps right now. First focus on getting your 60' down then your ET.

I know this isnt really the section for this kind of question but, is there anything else I can tune the car for that will give me power besides my afr and spark tables...torque management is off already...

Your incorrect here. We don't live in Florida where its warm. It gets cold in Maryland and even colder in Canada. Burn outs help with any tire. They may not help a radial as much as they do a slick, but the bottom line is the heat helps to make the rubber softer. No one told him to smoke them like he in a burn out contest.

I lived in Nebraska, I know whats its like racing in cold weather on street tires...waste of time.

Burnouts on street tires will do nothing. The only thing that will help him meet his goals will be to get a good set of DR's. Launching on street tires with a cam, gears, and a stall on street tires (even with good track prep) is not going to get good 60's.

with a good set of radials/slicks what are some good 60' times I can work towards? Ballpark figure...

rule of thumb: under 2.0 is good, mid 1's are money. over 2 needs work.

also, with street tires, try lowering your tire pressure a bit to get some extra bite and steer clear of the waterbox.

I know to miss the water box...I had my pressure down to 20.5 psi...not sure If I can safely go lower or not though...

i agree with the non burning of the tires, street tires heat up very quickly, by doing a burnout it makes them to hot and you run slower, put my best times down by going around the water and straight to the line

guys is a 275 wide 15inch drag radial too much tire for my application? or possibly a 11.5 inch wide drag radial...I got 2 that are up for sale with decent prices on them that I am looking at nabbing locally...I think that it might be too much tire for me though, I am thinking I dont want much more then 245 wide drag radials...
