  • My grey 3rd Gen

Hey guys, I just found this forum, and thought I would post an intro here. I picked up a 89rs V6 with a T5 in december for $900, and have been making fixes and upgrades to it all the time.

Here's some pictures of how it used to look, and some of the things I did along the way.

first day I brought it home

restored a really warped up dash pad to acceptable levels

painted the wheels black with polished highlights

filled and sanded about 2000 hail damage dents

before and after... fog lights, black out sockets, and a quick repaint

polished the plenum, not installed yet

polished and clear coated the valve covers

4th gen seats, and a steering wheel from an 87 LT

polished the tensioner pully and the throttle body

I'll post more when I get the engine bay all shined up. The car runs great, and I'm loving every minute of it!

Nice! I eventually need to put that kind of work into the wife's '92 RS.

Very nice. I like how you kept it stock for the most part.

I'm removing my intake plenum tomorrow and replacing my egr valve. Hopefully I will finish this soon.

i'm mixing and matching years (the grill is from a 90-92, and the steering wheel is from an 87) So far the only non 3rd gen thing I've done to it are the seats, and at least those are camaro seats, just a later year.

I like stock, I even bought an original delco radio for it (2 in fact, the first one was a yellow letter from 92, and then I found a white letter 89)

If you want to see a car I'm restoring totally to stock, check out this link. It's the story of a 1958 impala I'm restoring with my Dad.

                    Re: My grey 3rd Gen

spent three days putting on some parts I've been polishing up. They look nice, but if I had known how much work it was going to be tearing down the engine as far as it needed to be to get to those parts, I would have stopped with just the plenum.
The second picture doesn't do it justice.. it really looks better in person

did you Zoops the plenum/valve covers, or use some other sealer??

thak gawd for getting rid of the origonal steering wheel, it had a bad case of "needs a grant wheel" written all over it

                          Re: My grey 3rd Gen

I painted them with high temp clear enamel. I think it will keep them from rusting, but we'll see

Yeah, the original wheel was bad, plus the horn button was WAY too touchy. Everytime I brushed it, it would go off.. It had my kids in stitches, but it irritated the hell out of me
