  • B&M Transkit Installed

Just got the tranny rebuilt this weekend and it's nice. No hesitation shifting and when it kicks down when accelerating. And when you down shift manually it's like it had a manual trans, nice and smooth. I'm letting it break in a little before I test 1/4 mile times with the nitrous, might even get a little bark from 1st to 2nd. The rebuild went a lot easier than I had expected too.

Best of luck and let us know how it goes at the track

I did the rebuild myself, I don't let anyone touch my car. The kit cost $213 and another $72 for the Red Line Oil ATF, damn that stuff is expensive.

Hey 12second, did your b&m kit change the valve body or was that something you did later. Mine kit changed the valve body as well as rebuiding the clutches and stuff, just wondering if your kit was different or not.

Oh, thought you might have gotten a different rebuild kit or something, just the shift kit was what you got. So what did you modify later on?

Without nitrous the car is slow as hell, 17.4 before the LSD and tranny rebuild haven't tried it recently. I'll be rebuilding the engine before to long, had to send back my pistons because one of them had a pit in the side of it, hoping for low thirteens after the rebuild. I've did a little with the suspension and also added a B&M Megashifter which works great for down shifting but not needed for upshifting around town now that I rebuilt the tranny, it shifts how I like now. Also got a K&N filter, mostly because it would go through regular filters in a month by sucking the screens out of the inside even with a clean filter.

Why yes,.....I do. These are my times with the Hypertech Thermo Chip, Jet Pulleys, Custom CAI, Dynomax Exhaust and MSD 6A ignion set-up.

After that I had my Crane 2030 cam installed and 1.52 roller rockers and the mechanic installed them incorrectly. The performance after that sucked. I'm waiting to get the car out of storage in the begining of May to get it fixed by a different mechanic who backs up his work, the engine ticks so bad the knock sensor picks it up and delays my timing. I have the headers, cat, intake, and custom burned chip in my room as of now. I store my car in the winter so I dont drive it at all I'll get all the stuff put in when I get it out in May. I just have 51,000 miles on her. I knew my Firebird was slower because my brothers 92 RS TBI w/48000 was always my test car. I used to beat him by 2-3 car lengths at 90MPH, after the cam and rockers I lost to him by a nose. Talk about a waste of 700 for labor. It really pisses me off. I hope this new mechanic can get it running the way it should. I figure with my new mods on the car and the cam fixed I should be running low to mid 15's. I'll keep you updated when I get it fixed. The headers are really cool they will cost alot to put on, but they will really make a difference with all the other stuff I have on it.

Well, I am going to try to get a new block for the car. That one company dont remember the name said they have the 3.1 block for $150. I am ordering new suspension stuff tomorrow since my suspension is shot right now.
