Ok I am new on here and new to the V-6 game, but I want to try something a little different so here I go. I have a completely stock 87 firebird with t-tops and the 2.8. I just bought a turbo from a Grand National for it. I am going to start playing with it and see what we can do. Will keep you updated on my progress

You may want to go to a junk yard and grab a spare exhaust manifold set, and have an exhaust shop fab you up a turbo mounting plate. Use the junkyard manifolds as your temporary manifolds until your stuff comes back from the shop. Or better yet, if you want to get really bold, go with a T/T (Twin Turbo) setup. Just make sure you have the fuel to support all that air entering that engine. (I learned the hard way) "Lean is MEAN!!!" Also invest in an oil cooler for your setup. It will definately increase your turbo's life, since the Garrett turbo you'll be using is not water cooled. Send your turbo out to have ceramic ball berings installed, (About $500), but There is no replacement for them. Also have your turbine wheel clipped, and your housing ported out. Also, if you want your turbo to last a REALLY long time, use fully synthetic oil. You'll notice faster spool-ups, less turbo lag, and overall performance gains. Send me some pictures and an overall idea of your budget, and I'll see about what all else I can help you out with. Feel free to ask whatever you want about turbo charged applications. You can ask some of the local F-body guys here about my little turbo Starion. hehe. Hit me back. L8er.

hey, thanks for the input air I dont think I'm going to go with a twin setup just yet but i do have and interesting turbo that I am going to try at some point in time to(just for ****s and giggles) Its kinda a hybrid. Picked it up off of ebay for real cheap. Just have to figure out how to post picks up on here now. yeah my firebird is at the beginning of its new life and from what I can tell it had a hard past one. I have alot of work ahead of me but it will get done and I will keep you all updated. And will post picks as soon as I figure out how to post them and get some of the car.

Too kool man. Hey, I look at it this way, "If it's worth customizing, it's worth customizing right from the start." This will be an EXPENSIVE conversion, so be prepared to have plastic in hand, and lots of asprin. Take care and most importantly, remember..."Safety above all else." L8er.

Oh yeah I will definatly have the asprin ready. I'm not new to the customizing scene just to the v6 and turbo scene  I have done a few custom cars and many restorations on older muscle cars. I just recived a letter from my homeowners assoc. that I can NO longer work on my cars in the driveway I have to be in my garage with the door closed so that neighbors cant see it  I am so ready to move to the country then it will be allllll mine :D Well I'll catch ya'll later

I'm in the same situation here. Except that I don't have a garage, so I do my stuff out on the side of the road in my street! Ever since I had that Camaro, I've spent countless hours on my back, on that hard, sometimes very hot, Black top, that hasn't been re-paved since 1975. I remember when I pulled the front end off of my Yellow Conquest, The neighbors started griping cuz I had no bumper, header panel, passenger side fender, or headlight on that side. Oh, not to mention my big A$$ intercooler chillin right there infront of the car. hehe. So I took some plastic bags, and wrapped up the whole front of that beastie, and taped it down. Man were my neighbors pi$$ed! They called me a cocky smart A$$, but hey, it was legal..heheh. Good luck man. And may the BOOST be with you!!!
