• Hesitation At Take-Off

I've noticed recently when I take off from a dead stop, the motor seems to pull back on the car as though it is cutting out. It's running fine, it doesnt seem to want to die or anything. I have tried all kinds of fuel injector cleaners, and ran top grade Chevron fuel, but nothing seems to help. I have a hole at the top of my gas tank, could this cause it? The pressure difference perhaps?

I thought it could be my timing, so I checked it and it it shows 14*, I guess factory is 10*, but 13* is optimum. Could this 1* difference be causing this? I'm going to try adjusting it later on this week when I have some free time, but I wanted to know for sure before messing with it.

Also, how difficult is it to replace fuel injectors in these cars, incase this is the problem? I have considered this in the past.

    Thanks ...

    1. Check your IAC for operation. Also check behind throttle plate for egr sludge buildup.

    2. You actually drive w/a hole in the gas tank? your milage must be crappy, but since your buzzin, you don't really care

    3. Fuel injectors....just finished installing mine, I mean the 3.4s on. Disconnect throttle body & everything attached to it ***Be carefull w/the hard plastic lines***, all hoses going to the upper manifold, the tv bracket, the 10 bolts holding the upper manifld on. remove upper manifold. Remove fuel feed & return lines from fuel rail. remove 2 bolta holding fuel rail to middle manifold. disconnect wire harness from the 2 sensors by water outlet, & where it connects to harness from firewall. pull up firmly. Mine was a bytch to pull out. Disconnect locking feature on injector pigtail. Remove injector.

Be prepared to replace ALL O-rings,(costs only $8).

Installation is reverse of removal ;) refer to haynes/chilton/service manual for full & complete directions.

At least you don't have to mess w/the cold start injector

I tried patching the hole, but it didnt take I suppose. Do you know where I might be able to find a new gas tank? I was told by the local recking yards that by law they have to puncture a whole in the tanks to prevent fuel and fume presence.

Thanks for all those suggestions. I will check the IAC and behind the egr valve.

      No comment on the timing?

      Thanks!

I allredy gave you an answer on the timing in the other post. For a gas tank, dealers are like $500 , for auto parts store, see about ordering one for the 89 TT/A, it's suposed to have internal baffling, but that might be just from the dealer.

Oh, sorry I didn't notice that post.

AutoZone (the local autoparts store) can order me an aftermarket replacement for $139.99 (not bad). Would you suggest getting a new fuel pump and stuff also? Any recomendations?

          Thanks for all your help!
