Alrighty, I'm in the modifying mood after I figured out that the TB Bypass worked, so my next project is the CAI. I've ordered the filter ($40) and bought the parts necessary (<$8) but what I wanna' know is, is 5/8" the right size for that air sensor, and does it matter where in the 45-degree connector it's put? Thanks.

Yes, 5/8 inch is the right size. The reason I say "about" is because it isn't an exact fit, you might have to file the hole to make it a little bigger, but 5/8 inch is really close to the actual size. It doesn't really matter where you drill the hole, just make sure the sensor will reach the hole.My 1991 Firebird - 3.1L V6 with custom K&N CAI, Flowmaster, Sony CD, MTX 4-ch amp, 2 MTX 10\" subs, Sony & Polk speakers, Eagle Wheels

My 1997 Firebird Trans Am with T-Tops, Panasonic CD, Alpine Speakers, MagnaFlow Exhaust, and Lingenfelter CAI.

Okay, I had another random, but useful question. If the MAF sensor wires aren't long enough to reach to the sensor itself in the new intake, what do you do? Can some of that plastic insulation be cut away to lengthen the wire reach or do I need a longer pipe? :rolleyes:1992 Arctic White Firebird
3.1L V6, TB Coolant Bypass, CAI, Turbo Muffler, other little things.

http://www.geocities.com/colinobu/MyHomepage.html

\". . .Finger in the air and the flag still wavin\'. . .\"

There shouldn't be any problems with the air sensor reaching the new hole in the intake. If I remember correctly, the hole should go in the bottom of the 45 degree elbow. Is the sensor not reaching the new intake in your car? If it isn't, you might want to double check you have the right pvc parts, especially that you have a 9 inch tube. Because if they are different sizes, you might also have a problem getting the filter to fit anywhere else in the engine bay.My 1991 Firebird - 3.1L V6 with custom K&N CAI, Flowmaster, Sony CD, MTX 4-ch amp, 2 MTX 10\" subs, Sony & Polk speakers, Eagle Wheels

My 1997 Firebird Trans Am with T-Tops, Panasonic CD, Alpine Speakers, MagnaFlow Exhaust, and Lingenfelter CAI.

Well, I had a lady at ACE Hardware cut it for me and she initially cut it for me at 10", but I told her I needed it at exactly 9", and so that's what it is. I'm asking this only after I've kinda' "shadowed" the current setup. I haven't actually put the intake in yet (X-mas present from my wife--won't let me open it), but I pulled the sensor out of the current air cannister and pulled it over to where it would kinda' end up, and it didn't quite reach. If something goes crazy, I'll just get a new pipe, but I was wondering how our engine bay setups could be the same, but my sensor wouldn't reach, but like I said, I just shadowed it, I may be cryin' a river for nothin' once I actually put it in. Thanks for answering my questions though. I appreciate the help.1992 Arctic White Firebird
3.1L V6, TB Coolant Bypass, CAI, Turbo Muffler, other little things.

http://www.geocities.com/colinobu/MyHomepage.html

\". . .Finger in the air and the flag still wavin\'. . .\"
