Ok guys what did I do to my car? Sometime ago I installed the CAI from the encylcopedia. Since then I have not disconnected my battery and all has been good. The other day I did disconnect the battery for puposes not related, and now my idle is all messed up to the point of the car dying on me. Did I reset the computer and it now doesnt like my intake or what? I've heard reseting the computer to adjust for the new intake was a good thing. UUUUHG.

I guess knowing a little about the car might help too. 91 RS 3.1 auto.

What is the lowest miles/yr old ratio around here? Ive got 68000miles/12yr old car.

When you reset the computer on a 3.1, you need to do what is called an "Idle Learn" to get the computer to set a minimum air rate.

However, I'm so used to doing this with a scan tool that I can't remember how to do it without one. I'd suggest doing a search on "3.1 Idle Learn".

I believe i read something on this today. What I got from it was that i need to just drive the car, shut it off, and drive again. Something like that. Basicly just drive it till the problem goes away. Heres hoping its that simple.

Shouldn not have messed with the RS

Without a scan tool it will take the car about three days to relearn itself, until then you'll just have to hold the pedal down a little when you come to a stop.
