Ok, I've worked on cars for years but this one's got me stumped. I have an 1984 Firebird SE. This is a new car to me and it has the pop-up headlights. While my service guys were working on checking out the electrical system, they turned on the headlights as part of the test. The lights popped up and turned on... all is OK.... until... they turned them off! The lights turned off ok, but refused to go back down. I learned that I can manually turn them back down, but it's a pain to do so. Any ideas as to what's wrong with these things? I can't believe that two motors went bad at the same time! Thanks for any help/replies. Brad- the guy with the Firebird that looks WIDE-AWAKE!

I don't think they are vacume operated. The motors have wires running out of them. I can't believe that they pop up and won't retract!
3.4 slow to go-- thanks for the link, I'm going there right now! Brad- the guy with the firebird that always looks AWAKE!Brad

Phoenix, check out thirdgen.org and do a search on "headlight repair"... better yet I did it, here's the website. The guy makes stuff for fieros but the headlights work for a lot of different GM and GM affiliated vehicles.
(couldn't find that website but here's one for 87-92 firebirds)
