  • 3rd gen Rear calipers: which side?

Okay, on an '87 T/A rear end, which side to the calipers mount (towards front or rear)?
The passenger side on the Camaro is towards the front and it's a pain to get the caliper on because the control arm is in the way (got it on though).
The driver's side caliper is towards the rear and is easily installed.
So where are they supposed to be?

That would be a very good question to ask! but if noone knows on this site (Or anyother sites u asked on ;p) then i guess goto a speed shop and pick up one of those books for the car, thats what a freind and I did with his chevelle, we put 4:11 rear end in with that book so you shouldnt have a problom

The car originally had drums, but my friend swapped out the rear end.
However, I've been told that it's supposed to be that way due to the calipers and mounting brackets being interchangable between sides (82-88 NON-aluminum).
I'll hopefully be able to pick up some "slightly" larger rear brakes this summer anyway ;)

Got a new question. Normal brake lines don't work, you screw the fitting all the way into the caliper and the line still moves, which means it leaks. There has to be some sort of adapter/conector to make it all work. So what do I need?
If I can't find anything, then I'll be getting stainless, pre-bent lines made for the car (just need to bend the ends of the lines depending on which year 3rd gen (or 4th gen) rear end you've got).

welcome to the wonderful world of metric  .
If the fittings are loose, use teflontape. If the line inside the fitting is loose, get new one, or bend new one. If you do-it-yourself, make sure you double flare the sucker or it will leak.

Okay, what its supposed to have is an adapter, the adapter screws into the hole in the caliper, the brake line screws into the adapter. GM really screwed up on this one  Ohh and of course they don't sell the part, unless of course you want new calipers which are over twice what I paid from a dealer. The reason for this adapter is that the hole in the caliper is too deep for the fitting/line to seat, therefore the line is still loose. They could've just drilled the holes in the caliper the right damn size like every other car in the world.
So now I must buy the adapters used, assuming I can track down a pair, I must also give the gm engineers a big F**K YOU (looking for flip off face)
