I just filled up today and I got a whopping 20.6 mpg with purely city driving and even a few full throttle to 60 mph runs. I guess the comp finally woke up and realized the new O2 sensor is there. I'm gonna miss this bird, it's mint condition and runs like butter but new and better things are on the way. About 6 months from now I'll be ordering a brand new '04 Dodge Dakota! 4.7 SOHC V8 , 5-Speed manual trans, and some goodies ;)

It tells the computer if your exhaust is rich or lean so it can tell how much fuel to put in the cylinders. If the O2 sensor is dead it will just dump massive amounts of fuel in to the engine and get horrible mileage.

20 mpg? I keep track of my mileage and I do purely city driving in Jersey, with racing people offa street lights all the time and I normally get around 21 or 22 mpg. I drove from Jersey to Florida for college and I got between 31 and 35 mpg on a couple of fillups. On a 12 year old engine, that's awesome. So not meaning to be all prickish, but why post an *amazing* 20 mpg?
It's all relative, I was getting 13 mpg babying it the entire way, sometimes filling up with less than 200 miles on a tank. To me, 20 mpg is amazing. It's really wierd because the engine sounds so smooth it's like it's brand new. I guess the O2 sensor was just shot.

I just dont understand how it could possibly be burning that much gas... If I were you I'd make sure my injectors aren't malfunctioning (or the carb's tuned properly). Next thing Id do is replace cap, rotor, wires n plugs and see if it makes any difference
Not much going on, replaced my Kenwood double din stereo with a Pioneer double din, the Kenwood had problems. Then replaced my power inverter for my reverse...
