So I wont hijack the window switch thread anymore ,
I need a part for the remote hatch release. I have 2 of the solinoids/release things but I need the part it actually goes to. I saw a pic in thirdgen.org of where it goes, like a another part that goes on the back of the hatch release. Any possibility of having one? or at least keeping an eye out for one?
Thanks.

I am not sure what part you are talking about. There is the trunk latch release solenoid which is the big one that attaches to the car. There is the remote solenoid that releases the hatch via a button on the dash. There is the cable that connects the keylock to the remote solenoid so you can access the hatch via your key. There is also a small relay used by the courtesy light.
Jim
Old school!
The green arrow is pointing at the remote solenoid. They do usually come attached with the cable. Sometimes you will find those solenoids seperately but usually it will be mounted onto the hatch solenoid. If I were you, I would look for a newer style hatch motor. They use a metal frame instead of the plastic one yours has. My next question for you is how do you know you need the remote solenoid? Have you checked the switch, wiring and connectors?
Jim
My car didn't come w/remote hatch switch . I have 2 of the solinoids w/cable, but they will not hook up to anything :(

Why not? As long as they from a unit of the same year, they will work. Remove the cable and cover off of your old unit and install the solenoid. The hatch motors are the same if the car has the remote solenoid or not.
Jim
Ok, heres the problem you have. You are showing me pics of different kinds of hatch latches. The first is a hatch motor with remote solenoid. The second pic is of just a latch w/ no motor. Not only that but the latches are different years. If you find a remote solenoid off of an 85-92, it will mount to the latch that is in the second pic. Notice that there is a screw hole on the driver side of the latch. The remote solenoid attaches to the latch there. Or you could just by a hatch motor w/ one already attached. But you said that you had a couple remote solenoids lying around. If they are 85-92, they will attach to that latch.
Jim
out bid, but what wares/prices do you haave. A willing buyer here, also still looking for a grey rear foldown seat. In fact , just the seat cover, cheaper to ship ;)

No, I believe that unit is for a Camaro. It may work in the firebird but I think the bolt pattern is different. The firebird hatch actuators have the pull down feature like the Cadillacs.
Jim
I don't have the pull down feature, just arm muskle force. When are you gonnna get a gray interior car????? The black carpet/dorr panels you have are pretty sweet

The next car I maybe parting out is a 91F-bird w/ gray interior and its sweet. Burgandy w/ T-tops and a 305. I say maybe parting because the only thing wrong with it is a bad crank.

I’m new. I actually don’t own a Camaro or firebird. I do have a 2000 Camaro 3.8 fly by throttle and 4l60e. This is installed in a 1980 Triumph TR7...
