Interesting... Technology has come a long way I guess.

Holy crap, that's the second 3rd gen I've seen destroyed in a movie in about a week. Gone In 60 Seconds, they're crushing his brother in a 3rd gen firebird...

Yeah, I cried during that scene. But the one in the beginning of Final Destination 2 made proud! Think of what happened there. He ran the Fbird through a steep ditch, hit a car, and ran smack into a fuel tank that exploded and the only damage to the body was that the top was sheered off leaving the driver burning but still alive. Until the truck from hell finished him off. But that car took a beating before it was finished off. You have to love Hollywood, diesel doesn't explode like that. It only detonations under heavy compression.

Dang Nate, you're crazy :D ;) j/k. Good luck with the engine swap! Do you know of anyone who has swapped in that engine into a third gen before or are you going to be the first one?

Let's try to keep this thread on topic please.

Nate, you've got to be closing on the record for "most swaps in a 3rd gen" I've always wanted to see a 3.8 in a 3rd gen, not counting the TTAs.

I need a 3.1 quick to be the site's official v6 ho

Been looking around for some powder coating ideas for the valve covers, but nothing yet. Gotta have the engine in front of me. The starter is back on the correct side (BOP) ;) .

I also have a lead on not needing a $200 cherry picker. Just have to do some pricing @ Lowes/Home Depot :D ;)

I kind of wanted to keep it a surprise until it happened but...
I am not going to be doing the 3.4L swap afterall. But I will be installing a 3800 series 2 in the Firechicken. It is coming out of a '99 Camaro. It is mated with a 5-speed T-5. I plan on having some fun. It will be around 2 weeks before I expect the combo to arrive from NC. I decided to do this since I am having problems recalibrating the OBD 1 computer for the cam I was going to use in the 3.4L. But since my brother does nothing else but reprogram computers for n/a 3800s and supercharged versions, it seemed like the best way to go. Besides, I won't mind the extra horsepower and the stick.

edit: I already have a god thread going in teh Advanced Tech forum about some issues w/it, & I can even get a VATS bypass module. I'll see where the dude got it from & send you the info. You'll probably have it done before mine. I couldn't pass up a deal like that. He will even throw in some other stuff if I win it. If I don't, I'll just get another one from somewhere else and mate it to the 700R4 I upgraded.

What is the problem with the engine mounts for the 3800? Are they going to be too tall? It's something I didn't think of. Oh well.

Kinda like this mopar pan, only the square part is more centered, & not as deep

I must be missing something here. I have seen the engine mounts and the oil pan before, a friend of mine as a 98 Fbird.

What year vehicle are you referring to for the engine mounts?
