  • B&M shift enhancer

I was just wondering if anyone knows if the B&M electronic shift enhancer is alright to use on my 1992 camaro RS with the 3.1 liter V6 tranny. Has automatic overdrive. Pretty new to the whole mod thing as I just got this car less than a year ago and it's the first car I have had that's worth modifying, even if it's only small things here and there. I already took out the inside headlights and used the space for a cold air induction cone as well as bypassed the throttle body coolant. Any advice with the shift enhancer stuff?

If it is the B&M shift plus then do NOT install it.

It increases tranny line pressure with a stage 1 and 2

Over time, usually 1 year, internal tranny parts crap out due to high PSI.

For $40 thru summit you can get the B&M shift KIT, much better!

4th gen uses 4L60E tranny. i believe late 3rd V6 auto trannies are 700R4 aka 4L60 (non-electronic) therefore you can't use that B&M electronic shift enhancer. there is a specific shift kit for that tranny.

i'm going to move this to the 3rd gen forum so you can get more info from our more knowledgeable 3rd gen members.

ecoterragaia and 12secondv6 are right. That electronic shift enhancer will not work with the non-electronic 700R4 (4L60). I don't know about the really inexpensive B&M shift kit, but I installed a kit made by Transgo. The kit does raise line pressure but boring of certain passages was required to decrease line pressure and increase volume. The kit works great and it costed around $120. The kit came with 3 different spacer plate gaskets depending on what you wanted the trans to do.
