  • 34 to go, another question for you

When you installed that msd, did you use battery voltage or a 12 V (ignition) to power it? Reason I ask is per the directions, it requires a 12 volt power source but also calls it battery voltage. My battery voltage is 13.5 to 14.5 volts. Just curious.

One other thing, the pacesetter headers that I got for the car seem to have a problem. What kind of fastener did you use in the lower middle hole of the header on the passenger side? The only grade 8, 8mm, 1.25 bolt I was able to were socket style which require the allen wrenches to install. I can't figure out any way of tightening that center bolt since the pipe is bent to close.

It may take him a bit to reply, I think he is on the east cost.

Main power from the battery, other "switched" power source, as seen on the bottom of the box, is from the stock harness. In fact, brake down & get the MSD harness. yeah, it's like $30 ,but is just sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much easier & simpler to deal with.

Yeah, back from the Right coast, w/4 bags of Crab Chips!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would buy that harness but it wouldn't help me. The power would still be connected to battery voltage. Here's my problem. The car runs rough at idle. Anything above 1200 rpm, it runs great. Here's the kicker, when at idle and I turn on the lights, the car evens out and runs great for 3 seconds. At the same time, I watched the voltage drop below 13 volts. Then, when the alternator 'catches up' with the voltage drain, its back to rough idle. I then turn the heater on high and it evens out again. And 3 seconds later, its back to rough idle. I need to run the MSD off of 12 v, not battery voltage.

Try running both leads to the battery.

            edit:

If you have to, run a lead from teh fuse box out to it, but the battery voltage will be a more consistant charge/source of power.
