  • Alternator Question

My alternator finally went south. The past week or so it has been making some strange sounds, rattling and such, and last night while driving, my power guage went down to the red zone and my lights began to dim. I immediately drove it back home and parked it.

I have found the stock replacement at many autopart stores, but I hate to put a stock replacement on it knowing that my stereo will just kill it again.

MY QUESTION IS THIS: Is there an alternator, 140-180 amp alternator that will bolt up to my car (that I could find at an auto part store)? Maybe something from a different Chevy vehicle?

    Please let me know.

Do you have any of those battery blasters or whatever they are called that hook in with your amps? They are suppose to save your battery so that evertime your bass hits it doesn't draw such a huge load from your eletrical system. Just ask someone about it at a stereo shop.
