  • Will Autotap work on my 2.8 89 bird?

I just had an engine swap on my 89 bird. Still getting a code though. I was wondering, I know Autotap will work on my 98 Bird but will it also work on my 89?

    Thanks

Well the EGR was out according to the computer scan at this shop. But the Service Engine soon tends to go on sometimes.

I know AutoTap can do this and help me shut off Service Engine soon instead of paying someone $75 to check and to shut it off.

I wish there is an AutoTap for the 89 bird. That would save me alot of money and just do it myself.

        What do you guys recommend.

i think there are ODB 1 scaners and there not to much, or you could go to Advacned or Auto Zone and they will do a free scan

also i think there are a different number of pins and diff conecter under the dash from for OBD 1 and OBD 2, compare your "data port" on both cars, on driver side under the dash some were below you right knee when sitting the car

just do teh paper clip thing to pull the codes & disconnect battery for 1min to clear. Actron/SunPro has the new CP9145, which is a OBDII scanner that you can get optional OBDI cable to use. here ya go:

Use a piece of electrical tape and cover the SES or pull the dash and remove the bulb for the SES.

Some state inspections "require" the techs to see if the SES light comes on.
