  • Bleeding Breaks?

well this isnt for my v6 3rd generation but i do have a 86 iroc 3rd gen.

The breaks went out on it, the culprit a $15.00 rubber hose that connects to the caliper. Now i replaced the hose but how do i bleed the break system?

My dad loosened up this one small nut under the hood along the break like, before the master cylinder and before the break fluid reservoir, theres like 2 lines there he loosened one up while i pushed the break pedal and fluid squirted out.

But this still didnt work, and yes i tried searching.

    thanks

    Old school method
fill your resovoir up w/clean fluid. tighten up those conncetions by the fbrake fluid block (where it diverts front left & right sides brake lines. We gonna bled all the brakes jsut because, gotta get new clean fluid in there. Starting on the right rear (cause we bleed furthest away from resovoir & work to closest) losen wheel cylinder bleeder valve just enough to let fluid out. Attach hose to end of bleeder valve to catch fluid & drain in jar or something. have someone step on brake pedal & go almost to the very bottom of travel. Flush out all thatbad stuff & refill resovoir as needed. When fluid is clear & no bubles coming out, have person hold pedal down while you tighten bleeder valve. Repeat for drivers rear, pass front & finally drivers front.

edit: I've never had to bleed brakes on cars/trucks w/ABS, so I'd check manuals on procedures for those.

its and 86 IROC-Z so it doesnt have ABS :D

Sounds simple enough but difficult at the same time. I didnt get a chance today but i will definately get to it tomorrow.
