Early third gen w/rear discs?

Anyone have this option, do a conversion? We found out it was an option, so we're going to start hunting for a donor car for a swap, I am just wondering if it was a rare option (see how long it's gonna take us, lol)....

The rear disc setup was an option on several models of F-bird (T/A, Formula, etc) and it may of even been standard on some. I don't think that they're rare but more uncommon. I have a couple complete Australian 9-bolts in the garage. They use a 7 3/4" ring gear instead of the 7 1/2" or 7 5/8". If you do this conversion, you will need to replace the proportioning valve. The valves are different between rear disc and rear drum. You will not have to change the master cylinder or booster but some people recommend that you change those also. I would then say to change the brake lines to the rear since more pressure is applied to rear disc brakes than rear drums. And like any other F-body, those lines should be changed anyways. But most importantly, try to find a rear end with the rear calipers in good shape. They are not cheap since they incorporate the e-brake cables.
