How much will a new lifter cost, an oem?
You will have to get the intake manifold off to get at the lifters.

You would still have to remove the intake manifold. How would you remove the lifter through the hole for the pushrod? Or anywhere else? Plus it would be best to inspect the whole valvetrain anyways.
Dude, I went 10yrs between engine swaps, & the second time (and third time) i did them all by myself. The lifeter removal tool is designed to remove them w/o engine disasymbly. Get estimates on the job if you really dont feel up to it, or find soem peeps who know what they're doing & offer them some beer and/or pizza for doing it. Watch what they do & learn. You need to cut your teeth sometime.
