  • 1991 Firebird V6 Tire Selection, need help

The current setup on my 91 Firebird has 235/ 60R / 15 on stock wheels. 4 BF Goodrich Excentia GT tires previously installed but its nearly approaching the 50,000 mile mark useful life. I found a good deal on the same brand of BFG's but the size is 235/ 70R / 15. The question is will I encounter some rubbing inside the wheelwell with that slightly taller setup? Does anyone have 70's now or shall I stick with the same size 60's? Proud to mention that the odometer today hit 254,000 highway miles on it!

3.4 is right - 3rd gens were all 65 and lower profiles.

      My 87 was 215/65/15.

Congrats on the quarter million mile mark!

I just looked at the size tire onmy 95 Blazer,235/70 15. If you want a mud bogger, get this size.

I recently bought some BFG Radial T/A tires in the same size that you have (235/60R-15), and as it is, it already rubs when making tight turns, so as mentioned above, I wouldn't go any bigger. Congrats on all those miles!

Thanks to all who replied. I will stick with the 235/60R/15 BFG setup, just in time for another nor'easter here in snowy Connecticut. An exceptional tire that gave me many miles on treadlife and no blowouts yet like my ill fated Firehawks that was recalled on my 83 Trans Am. 254,000 miles was accomplished by 3000 mile oil changes, tranny & differential fluid replacements and 1 waterpump.

The '87 came with 215/65/15, but now has 245/50/16
