ok, bent, I mean persuaded teh tranny coolant lines around the the starter, it's back on all fours, and did a prelim light check. For some reason, the rear light harness on the 84 snapped into the chassis harness ( where it didn't a few weeks ago ) and all the front/rear lights work, but the head light indicators are......interesting.

got the mallory 4309 afpr w/gauge off of e-bay. such a littlething shouldn't be $75 new, so I'm glad I got a discount. Just spent $90 on carb cleaner, kit, float, fuel line, fittings & sealant. I 've never done an electric quadrajet rebuild, but have done many a regular one. This shouldn't be too hard (as I also have the rochester book & 85 Firebird service manual) Will be using 2 carbs for this rebuild, for teh one e-bay carb (probably from a truck) has just a mixture control sensor on top, but has good motion in the throttle plates. The other e-bay carb (from 87f-bod) has almost seized throttle linkage, but the main body has the tps alon gw/teh mizture control. So I'll be using carb#2 main body w/base & air horn plates from carb #1.
