well it's gonna cost us more in the long run to use e85 for the simple fact that corn is used in so many different thigns today (high fructose corn syrup, slop for animals, food for us, etc). In the end, it's gonna double the price fro the crop, costign us mroe in the long run sicne the supply will dedcrease as the demand will increase. Only way to keep all the meats/etc from increasing will be to not buy this garbage fuel

There is so much oil in the ground that we will have back to the future type cars before we run out of oil.

Go to Europe and then come back here and you'll be happy to pay only 3 dollars a gallon.

Grrrr, why do people always make this comparrison. Europe's economy has been exposed to high gas prices for a long time. They've adapted to the "high" prices over there. People here in the states still aren't able to adapt to it, especially with all the fluccuation. If it would just stay steady, even at $3.50 or $4.00 a gallon, people could adapt to it, get used to the high prices, and find out where they can cut back to still live a prosperous life. Our current economy is built around cheap fuel, people live far from work, and we still have a lot of rural communities in which people drive long distances to go anywhere. It sucks, but that's how this country is, not everybody can just pack up and move closer to work, especially not with the housing market like it is.

Then people could do one thing I guess. ADAPT!!! I'm one of those people that drive a good little ways to work everyday and as gas goes up my trips out to eat disappear a little. I don't buy every new CD or DVD when it first comes out. I've adapted my lifestyle a little bit. Sure I wanted a 3500 square foot home in a the richy section of Louisville but the housing market was so expensive I had to purchase a house with 1150 square feet in the suburbs. I ADAPTED!!! Part of the reason I left WV, economy was garbage, I adapted and picked up and left. Change is inevitable in life and gas should actually be higher, as everything else but gas has had inflation. Its just catching up.

Okay so Im back with the prices of four station .. I had forgotten about the one on the main road into Tarboro lol, but then now that I think about it, theres another gas station I didnt even pay attention to and it was sitting infront of me at the light the morning.

                    Raceway - $2.99
                    Hess - $2.89
                    BP - $2.89
                    Mo's - $2.88

And I haven't asked my bro in SC what it is but I'm sure its cheaper than that down there, it's prolly in the $2.70's

Thats true but we weren't talking about the cost of it, we were talking about how bad it is for the earth, just like gas.

My english teacher is also a humanities teacher, and she said that it's got a lot of greenhouse gasses in it

i got a feeling the automakers are gonna continue pushing E85 cuz its slightly less polluting than gasoline and makes their engines look more powerful ie. engines increase in hp on e85 because of it's race-fuel like 110(i do believe) octane rating...

and carmakers arent gravitating to E85 for less pollution, parsay, i mean after all it still burns and burning creates pollutants...E85 is supposed to be the magic bean that reduces our dependance on foreign oil by simply growing our own...but before long china will grow their rice patties up with corn because we're so eager to buy it to make more gasoline!!! gahh!!! im too poor for all this economic fluctuance lol

I disagree completely I think that Automobile makers will flock to the fuel cell and electricity I.E. The Volt, 40 MPG w/o gas? I mean the only time it'll use gas is if u dont plug it up and it uses the gas to recharge the batteries, the rest of the time it's plugged in.

Chevy Also claims that it can go at least 600 Miles before you have to think about recharging.

The Autovon Now has hydrogen fuel stations being installed every few miles on it, so I dont think it'll be long before it take root in the U.S.

Not a clue what you're prices would be in Canadian. (http://www.peigasprices.com/)

Not to be picky or anything but, the volt will be getting 0 mpg w/o gas. Its going to be something more like mpkwh. And yes we're paying nearly $4 CDN per gallon in Canada. It has been this high for over 2 years. The most I've paid is $5.67 a gallon.
