lol i dont have a clue how that posted twice 13 minutes apart i logged off after the first one.

i had a big thing typed up, but the damn thing wouldnt post and i lost it so i give up.

its not just here chad, i hear it on every site im on. and the sad thing is, people who are into other cars like stangs love it more than our own damn crowd. thats the only thing that is a dissappointment about this car, the people who cried and cried for a new one, then they get it and do nothing but nit pick.

it probably wouldnt bother me, but its the same people who got all worked up over it months ago and gm gives them a damn near exact replica of the car that was the concept and now theyre "disappointed" with it all of a sudden. you guys flip flop as much as Obama and Mccain do

then problem solved....Lose one crybaby, get two new fans. GM is a business, not a fan-service organization; if they completely destroy their fan-base and, in the process, create a new base that's twice as large, they aren't going to lose any sleep

        EDIT:

It was a "damn near exact replica" in appearance only...there were no technical data released along with the concept, which is the real point of contension this thread

It's not "flip flopping" if, after being presented with NEW INFORMATION, you change your mind; it's called being a rational person, and not a brain-dead fanboy. No one's whining about how it looks.

imo the new camaro specs and looks are incredible, maybe we are all getting too strung up on some of the new vettes out there and such but take a look at the leap that was made from 4th gen to 5th gen, v8 AND v6, it's a pretty good leap and i'm very impressed with it. what did everyone expect a 700 hp car??? it seems about right to me.

x2.. it looks good with a retro design... it also is faster (more hp, and faster 1/4 miles)

it seems like the stang guys are getting afraid :D

i like the new camaro.... not so much the weight (the only bad part for me...) but the style and more hp and torque

the hp and mpg numbers seem a little underwhelming compared to the new vettes and all sure.

but my real problem with the car is the size (not necessarily the weight.)

i was hoping for a smaller coupe. i wanted more of a monza than the chevelle we got.

i knew the production car would get narrower which i had no problem with. but i was hoping it would get shorter too...i think it got longer.

GM already has small sports cars in their lineup with the Solstice and Sky. The camaro fills a gap in GMs product lineup.

For those complaining about the specs...keep in mind that this car still surpasses the Mustang and Challenger in most aspects. Also keep in mind that GM will have to make the car better when it's up for its redesign in 3-5 years to please consumers. If GM gave us too much for the introduction they would be shooting themselves in the foot later.

Yeah, I with you on this. I was looking at my 2K and the 5th gen the other day and thinking the same. I like sports cars, the new Camaro is just a standard 2 door car with a classic name. One of my favorite traits of the 4th, 3rd and even 2nd generation Camaro was it's lack of rear side windows... like the 'vette. Always liked that look.

The 5th Gen is a nice looking car, mind you, but it just hasn't wow'ed me yet.

the solstice and the sky are roadsters though.

i still want a 2+2. but more coupe and less sedan -2 doors.

though i suppose the 3rd and 4th gen dont really resemble what the 1st gen was all about and thats the only one anyone seems to care about.

i'm actually ecstatic that a new camaro is coming out...it may not be a 8,000HP 4,000,000 MPG monster, but still, it's a camaro and i think they'll be great cars...

ever since i saw the first new 98 trans am commercial when i was 8, my dream has been to own a NEW Fbody, and now i have that chance again..

                        Well put.
Chevy has made the same errors that FOMOCO did with the last T-bird. Looks do not an American sports coupe make...
Looking like a '69 clone does not help. This size car should be the next Eldorado.
Like a V8 Monza, it should have been just big enuff to wrap around a small block. My 2 centavos...:(

                          Re: is anyone else disappointed?

I'm not disappointed , 300hp coming out of the V6 is outstanding, plus the fuel mileage, it will blow away the mustang, charger, and challenger V6's. So I would think they would sell very well. The V8 version is nice and all but if I wanted one of those I would just do a LS2 swap in mine and save 20,000. Plus save on insurance. But the way gas prices are and are going I'll keep my 96' V6 and just keep the nitrous bottle filled and on hand with my 125 shot jetted.

96' Camaro M5 to A4 conversion, alot of mods . GT35R Turbo full suspension. Built engine
