You should get a V8, then you dont have to explain to people that your car is fast. Constantly explaining that your v6 Camaro runs a mid 14 is sometimes annoying! but who gets the respect in the end?
Would like the V8 but think I could only afford the V6. Anyone hear of why they are not using the Z28 designation? I read they might use it later on a supercharged version but it seems weird (at least since the SS has had more power since they brought back the SS designation during the 4th generation) that the Z28 would have more power then the SS.
Earlier F-bodies had a serious image problem among the target demographic, especially the Z-28s and T/As. We love 'em, but I can't tell you how many of my Acura/Lexus/BMW/Toyota/VW driving colleagues have made snide comments about not knowing I was from Jersey or lived in a trailer park after seeing my ride. (No offense to those of you in Jersey or who live in trailer parks.)
Last gen mustangs outsold camaros and firebirds combined. Chevy is trying to appeal to those guys as well as anyone interested in the upmarket competition from Nissan, Infinity, etc. For the Camaro to be a success, it has to go well beyond the old demographic (meaning us). That means the Z-28 name had to stay in the closet for now.
1997 Camaro, Y87 Perf. Package, iRotor Drilled & Slotted Brakes, Bilstien Shocks, Custom drive shaft, K&N Filter, & Mobil 1 synthetic. 202+K miles and still drives like new.<br />-If you can\'t stomp \'em in the straights, kill \'em in the corners...
