  • Ticking sound from passenger side?

I have a 2001 Camaro V6 with a 3.8. It has around 70,000 miles. Recently, I have some type of a ticking sound coming from around the alternator or that side of the engine. It is cold the last few days, and I think it became apparent since then. After the car warms up after driving, it goes away. Can anyone tell me what it could be?

Exhaust leak from exhaust manifold passenger side. Would be the first guess.

Most obvious answer would be exhaust leak, if your unlucky possibly a ticking lifter but my first thought would be the exhaust leak

I certainly hope its an exhaust leak but the weird thing is that while there is this ticking sound, the car doesn't have the usual power it does. When I hit the gas it is like stalling for a bit and then it starts going.

most likely and exhaust leak. But could also be a ticking lifter. is the SES light on?

No the SES light is not on. If its an exhaust leak, why does the car lose power?

possibly a spark plug wire arcing?

I guess it could be. I had an SES light before about random misfire going on. I changed the plugs and the wires and I still used to get it. What could this be from ?

                    Bad coil(s) or ICM.

I would peek under the hood with it running in the dark sometime. If it is arcing it will be easy to see.

I forgot to mention something. I started getting the SES light when I had the catalyc converter cleaned out because it had plugged up. I started getting 2 codes. One's
B1001 - random cylinder misfire and P0420 - catalyst defficiency.

Is there a workaround this to make the oxygen sensor tell the computer that there is a catalyc converter? I thought I heard of something like this before.

Search the forums for o2 sensor simulator, few sites that sell them i cant remember exactly.
