Working on a friends 2000 camaro v6 5/mt
has 170k miles so past the GM blow up period.
Car was overheating and had leak near water pump. We replaced waterpump and thermostat and flushed and filled radiator.
From my experience it just kept taking in water id say 6 gallons or more. Even then it still would sink some everytime i put more in. Started let it warm up np seemed like water was boiling though i could hear it. Let it cool off and water was way down again took 1 1/2 gallons to get close to top again. filled it and ran it started making some noise near throttle body or lower intake. Noticed some wet coolant on lower intake gasket the overhang. from that area it was makeing like a pressure release sound. Any clues or thoughts would help probably wont get back to helping him till wednesday.
Thanks,
Kris

well friend tried to work on the car after i left and he said when he started it white smoke was coming out and then he checked the dip stick and noticed that oil was milky now i know that means coolant/water has mixed into the oil now my question is can only the head gasket be doing this or can intake gaskets do this as well.
this explains how the water level never would stay full it was going into oil
