Update: no longer thinking bearings... see post on 9/16 page 2. Found brass shards in upper intake and #2 intake runner...
I replaced my intake gaskets (upper and lower) this summer. found coolant in the oil. job took a long time... i did it in parts... i was in no hurry... and im slow. but i was also careful to do everything right.
engine had a little bit of noise before the swap (a nearly inaudible rattle like noise when you would let off a rev at idle...) i got everything back together and the motor sounds like it may be shot. i dont know if its because it sat such a long time (maybe i had bearing issues already, and they dried up, and when started they really went)
the motor started, ran for a few seconds... then started doing what you hear in the video below. it will still start, and then die. i only started it a couple times... im afraid to run it any more. i was a little worried i'd dropped something in the motor somewhere but i really doubt thats it. i'd be suprised. I am assuming bearings or some other major bottom end issue. i just cant figure why the heck its such an intermittent sound... when I've heard bearings before they were a very consistent... pattern like sound... like you'd expect... not this sperratc noise you hear my motor making. to be honest i cant remember if the second time i ran it, the sound evened out to a more patterned knock. the video is the first time it ran. any other ideas what it may be are appreciated. keep in mind it stalls on its own... thats not me turning the motor off.
