yes i think i am gonna get the heads shaved/resurfaced.

as for the paint... i just hit the side i have to look at whenever i walk up to the house or car quickly with megs #80. It still needs to be polished and waxed but it was an eyesore b4

How does this look guys ? This one cyl is kinda rusty. The piston sleeve i guess you call it has a little surface rust in it also. Should i clean that out some how ? I am gonna take the heads to get cleaned/surfaced etc. Got a quote for $250 to Re-build em.

Oh and suprisingly with all this rust and living in NY i did not break any manifold bolts !

That doesn't look good to me. I would suggest pulling the engine, re-ringing it, new rod bearings and at least honing the sleeves good. Wouldn't cost that much...but the time and effort would be pretty substantial.

I am afraid to pull the heads of mine because I know it will look like that..
How much do you guys think a rebuild on that would be?
Keep coming with the pics it might make me do the same thing.

if your gonna pull it and rebuild it, do it right. i would take some 2000 grit sand paper and some double d 40 and clean that cyl. real good and call it a day. did you try to start it before you pulled the head? did it spin over good, ie. no drag?

if it turns over fine then i would keep going in the direction you are in. we did this once on my buddies 94 3.4, the hardest part was adjusting the rockers.

                          Re: 3.4 headgasket

Got the heads back today, they look nice.

                          Few questions...
Do i need sealant on the headbolts ?
Is "moly grease" needed for the rockers or oil fine ?
Any good tips for adjusting the rockers ?

                          Thanks !!!

when im doing something like that i use gear oil. i assemble engines with gear oil and have never had a problem.

the head bolts should (if you bought them new) have a blue crap on them like antisiese or something.

as for rockers, the haynes i think has a way of setting lash.
