even if from abbott the ones from zzp were breaking on people too. It wasn't just one bad batch. Search the grand prix forums for some of the stories ;)
I know but ZZP changed theirs along with Intense, Abbott still using SI valves with 130lB springs in their heads. Even with them breaking. The stock ones will hold up better than SI valves. Manely is the best choice for turbo valves.

But, would there be any disadvantage or reprocussions of running a lift that big?
You may have more lift than the motor can use, cause a stock head is only gonna flow so much. It's kinda like putting in a 3" exhaust but still retaining the 2.25" s pipe. Even though you have a lot of lift it will still be limited by the stock head unless they are P&P, you have a stroker kit and so on...
Get what i mean? It's kinda hard for me to put into words.

I completely understand what you mean...my heads are going to be P&P with a most likely 1.84 intake valve and a 1.55 or 1.57 exhaust valve (I'm still deciding)...my compression is probably going to be 9:9:1 or 9:8:1...not sure how much I want to take off the head, as I have been told they get really weak and prone to headgasket failure if you mill off the .020 off them...
I just dont know the limits of a worked head like that...I know the stock head, that lift would be too much...but I dont know about once it has this kind of work done...Im not going with a stroker kit at the moment...too much $$$
I have my heads at my machine shop right now. I have a set with mild work done and i was planning on running .317 lift with a 1.7:1 rocker which puts me at .5389 lift total. At tyhat point you get retainer to valve seal interferance. My machinest and i decided to mill the gudes down so that when its all said and done with the seals i could accomidate up to .550 total lift. I am trying to get all the numbers to add to the sticky threads. the stock selas are pretty tall so you may have to go with a race seal. one time use but the allow for extra lift.

I daily drive the car 25,000 km a year, and in all weather conditions...can't be rebuilding the car every day lol...
Does anyone know what LS1 rockers are stock?...maybe I might just drill and tap the heads to use a 3/8th stud now, but run a stock ls1 rocker (if they are still 1.6) and upgrade in the future...

When i said one time use i meant that if you take them off they are garbage. You would have to replace them. Basic valve seals you can take off and put back on if you had too. Race ones are a very tight fit and will tear if you try to remove them.
So my truck is finally getting some work done, after 17 years, Oil pressure sensor went out and it’s located under the lower intake manifold. Have to...
