your probably gonna want a new rear end too. i would say you should wait to put it in until you have all the right upgrades for your car but if you dont gun it too hard you should be good. but dont take my word for it. I've always wanted to put and ls2 or lq4 in mine
easy swap, youl need a new cradle, trans, wiring, any pcm from a vehicle with a 4.3 - 6.0 from 99-04. There's a cpmpany out there that does all the wiring and makes a nice setup for a great price. Main thing is, that you can use the mounts from an ls1 if you use the cradle

Becareful, I have heard that 04 and lower LQ4 don't bolt up to 4L60E's due to a spacer in the crank/flywheel. I don't know if its true but its worth looking into. And no your 5 Speed trans will not bolt up to it, let alone last in it.
I did not know however that LQ4's came with Aluminum heads... Get an LS1 Crossmember, preferrably a tubular one, you wont look back. That will bolt the motor no problem

Do you happen to know the name of that company? I'd really know to know it!
Alright, I got the cradle, pcm, harness and accessories. It will be a little bit before I can get a trans and camshaft. I have read that I need to change to a v8 steering rack. Can anyone verify this? The bossman is going to work on his old ford this weekend so I had to get my car off the lift. For the time being my car is wagon powered.
oh the trans do both bolt up directly to the motor (the t56 and the a4 from any v8 fbody). The belhousings are different on our t5 and our auto. the company is over on ls1tech for the wiring. i'll look it up for you if I can

Speartech is where I got my wiring for my M5 to A4 swap. I think they do alot of V8's.
08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake
96' Camaro M5 to A4 conversion, alot of mods . GT35R Turbo full suspension. Built engine
The only reason to swap to the V8 rack is for the quicker ratio steering.
Do you have a LS1/LS6 intake?
Good luck with the engine swap,I would love to do one in mine:)
X2 on that I have the stuff to do the 14:4 steering rack on mine just need the time and help. My rag joint is going out on my 16:9 rack.

Awesome. I have been looking around for an intake. Ive been surprised at how much a used one costs, but I guess its all supply and demand. I will get into adapting the trans sensors to the wiring harness once I get the trans, but it is def something that needs to be addressed. Thanks for the help.
there is so much other stuff you need to make this work....
fuel lines/fuel pump
fuel rail
injectors
exhaust manifolds
oil pan
gauge cluster
radiator
accessories (ie* power steering and alternator)
trans mount
engine mounts

no, the steering rack comes out at a different angle on v8s, a v6 does not have the correct clearence
No Ryan they are the same , just have to get the intermediate shaft with the FE2 steering and you have your 14:4 steering , I have a rebuilted rack and the shaft, just waiting for my Dad to help put it on for me. My R&P is getting loose the alm. piece is worn down in it, the rebuilt ones come with brass inside so they don't wear down like the stock ones.

The steering column comes out of the firewall then attaches to the intermediate shaft and then to the rack & pinion , since I just changed mine not to long ago, learned alot about steering columns and R&P's.Your lucky you have the shaft and not the rag joint 98+ have the shafts and 93-97 have rag joint couplers that go bad. But they all mount up to the columns and work just fine since I used a 01' SS coulmn.

Haven’t done anything on the Camaro, but put LEDs on my truck headlights . And my oil pressure sensor went out on the truck so going to fix that this...
