    Re: head gasket :(

alright guys I have a couple more questions. 1.6 roller rockers, are they worth buying or do they offer little performance for the price? Also cam bearings, I did a search on this but couldn't find what I need. How do you replace them? I havnt pulled my stock cam out yet so I don't know what the bearings look like, but when I put the cam in I would like new bearings so I don't have to worry about it later. One more thing, what kind of pushrods should I get? Thanks guys.

our stock ratio is 1.6 rockers. thats the only question i can answer. i put 1.9 rockers (you cant use a cam with these) on my car, and i could really feel an increase in the seat of my pants.

        head/cam swap

Yeah I was thinking 1.6 to maintain stock ratio but have less friction, or 1.7 mabey if its not too much lift with the cam. I probably won't get these just because they're so expensive, and I still have a few things to buy for the swap.

In my GM shop manuals for my '02 it says stock ratio is 1.66, so i went with the 1.7's

              Re: head gasket :(

Hey guys, how's it goin? So I bought a set of arp head studs for the car, threaded them in then torqued down my driver side head. Well I misunderstood the instructions, they said hand tight so I threaded those in by hand then torqued them down. (I know, I'm an idiot.) Well now I don't have clearance for my driver side header to sit flush against the head because the studs are too high. Can I loosen 1 nut at a time then thread the stud in farther and re torque the nut, or do I have to rip it all apart again and get a new gasket?

I'm not sure i follow what your getting at... Could you take a picture?
The studs should bottem out easily by hand. Also did you use rtv on the stud when installing them to seal the water jacket?

                  Re: head gasket :(

No I didn't, I used teflon tape around the threads. After I did that it clicked in my head that I have allen wrenches and on the pass side head I threaded them in with that. I think I'm gonna take a chance and thread those 4 lower studs (not the 4 under the vc) in furtheri have to have it running today.

                    Re: head gasket :(

You might be able to get by changing them out one at a time. Im assuming your not using cometic steel gaskets. If thats the case you can pick up a single felpro head gasket for about $17 from autozone. I would chalk it up as a $17 mistake, and replace the gasket. That way you can follow the true torquing pattern and put your mind at ease. When you run your studs down the rest of the way; I would bottom them out and then back them off about a half a turn.

Well I started her up yesterday sounded good for about a minute, then I killed her there was water running under the car in a steady stream, and water mixing with my oil. I'm so bummed out right now. Gotta do it all over again.
