u could...you still need to make something to flow them to the heads...still have to worry about your coolant issue, tunning issues etc, etc...and see what I mean about the cost shooting up real fast if you dont do your homework...tbs by themselves run you close to $1000 if not more for those....plus w.e else you need now as well...which is fine, every project has costs...but you'll watch those costs double or triple if you dont make sure you work out all your issues from the start...you'll build it to tear it down again...
that was a long time ago, when i had dolla dolla bills yall. i was going to make the mounting for those then cross pipes that would go from one cooling to the next then make a peice that would cover the pushrods and lifter galley. but that was a long time ago. i just want my car to run in its original form at this point in time. lol

letzride the plan is to make an entire na setup. Itbs with a airbox over the top and air being routed from where the turn signals are to feed the engine. If possible have the engine pushed further into the car. custom mounts and maybe cradle will be needed. Internals upgrade to the point the car can still be somewhat streetability if not thats cool. also i'll be opening up the front bumper to get air to the radiator. Will get heads to compliment the rest of the build.
I dont think the engine can be moved any further back then what it is...atleast not unless you start cutting away that firewall...
you do know that by putting an air box over an ITB setup you are essentially reintroducing a manifold right? The air box will now act as the intake manifold that you just deleted, except that you will have two of them...the reason why ITBs give you an advantage is that in an intake manifold, each cylinder is fighting the one beside it to take in the air present within the manifold...ITBs allow the car to take the air instantly with no competition between cylinders...by putting an air box over the itbs, you are now creating competition between the cylinders again as they can only take the air that is presently flowing within that air box...
there is a good thread on LS1tech where they put air boxes over the itbs and it flowed a little better then the Fast90 manifolds...they lost over 30 rwhp even after really tuning it from when they ran stacks...

its about 1 inch from the firewall already. plus you would have to re-engineer engine mounts, trans mounts, not to mention shorten the driveshaft and reposition the shifter. practically impossible.

alright thanks for that. letzride you were coming up with a itb setup? if your still working on it ill get one from you. The thing is i still will have to know all the math involve since i will be doing this again on another car. I want to get things right on this car before i start another project. I understand the cost. In two years i will be making enough to handle these projects without too many problems. I wont be starting this build until this summer. I'm waiting for taxes and profit sharing to come in so i can pay off this car (bad loan). Once pay for i'm going all out. Now letzrideif you are working on a set if i can help out any i will. This is something i want to do since it will be a learning experiance for me for other projects. Flamingchicken thanks for the info on the engine mounting. I wish i could have done this myself. But thanks anyways. Never thought about the transmission mounts (dumb on my part). like I said, I dont have access to my heads right now so I can't get the math...and the way I am building mine I am using an Australian intake manifold for the bottom end. By all means you can do this yourself, I just wanted you to know that there is alot of planning involved and that if you just jump the gun and start making/buying parts, you gunna spend a ton of money...you just need a well thought plan.
The reason why the air box looses soo much power was because using an air box is like having a manifold...so your ITB setup is now nulified...its pretty much the equivalent of having 2 throttle bodies go to two manifolds...except the overall area would be bigger with the 6 tbs still then it would with 2 tbs.
This is how they had it setup on ls1tech, it was the harrop ITB setup...I remember them saying that they gained over 65rwhp over the fast 90 intakes, but lost over 30 of it when they put the filter box on... Best thing to do would be to either run the air box or individual filters on the street maybe, but at the track, run the air horns...
