  • So what can I get rid of?

Short story my firebirds engine blew up on new years. I got a 2nd car for a dd, and can work on the firebird slowly as a project now. It's just sitting there and I want to know what exactly can I part out/don't need and sell till the day Im ready to swap in a v8 6-speed. It's a 1995 firebird 3.4 v6 5-speed. Thanks

if your going to get a V8 you will need to get an LT1. to make it fit ( this is not exact but what i can think of)you will need :
    K member for a LT1
    trans brace for a V8 M6 ( same year)
    PCM for that engine
    Gauge cluster for a V8
new springs, shocks , and anti-roll bars for a V8
While working on teh rear end swap to a LSD( go aftermarket for strength)
    radiator from an LT1
    fuel pump for a V8

Now all of these parts of your V6 I would say sell off if your POSITIVE you want to go through this just remember its going to take 5-8K to get this whole build and you could buy a used T/A or Formula for that.

If I'm missing something please say so.

P.S. let me know what your planning on doing with the M5 I may be willing to buy it from you if the price it right

Not true. There are members on this board that have successfully swapped LS1 or bigger motors into their 93-97 V6 cars. TomRS even has a swap thread detailing his build.

Thanks for the replies guys, keep em coming. I don't know what engine I will do someday, but it will be bigger than a LT1. As I said I just want to part with everything I won't need.

I didn't even think of things like the guage cluster. I need the car to be a roller still so I can't get rid of the rear end yet
right? Pretty much all engine stuff, trans, and electrical like the ECM/guage can go? Is there anything I SHOULDNT get rid of???

I'd put a forged ls1 in it. I'd call up texas speed and tell them what your looking at building and what your goals are and they can set you up with something.

I'm no where financially ready to do the actual swap part just the removal of parts I don't need to sell/prep for that someday (why I made this thread) is what I'm ready to do.

you wont need our old engine and tranny obviously

you dont need the k member either because you will have to get a new one for what ever motor you get
