oh great, ok i am gonna have to look at the cap and see what i did to it cause i only think there is a nic on the top part of it from me wiggling it, the part were the cap touches the black and were the bearing sits are untouched
If there is just a "nick" on the top of the cap, there is no problem. The key parts of a main cap are the surface that mates with the block and the surface on which the bearing shell mounts.
Thank you for the info, the nicks are at the top the contact surfaces are all untouched, this is probly a stupid question but any suggestions on getting the cam bearings out? i have a slide hammer kit but i don't know if i need a special tool to remove them.
A special tool is required to remove and replace the cam bearings. Kent-Moore makes GM special tools. There also are "generic" cam bearing tools available from various sources for tools used by service techs.
