Re: First cam install, planning it out.

you should just buy HP tuners and a wide band if their going to charge that much, as for rockers , ours are around 1.66 so pretty close to 1.7 the only good benefit would be the shaft mounted and alittle more lift.

Dont you need modification to make double roller timing chain work? I also thought allot of people were getting bad double rollers from JP

I don't really know about a turbo build, but from what I've read about NA cams, it's a good idea to upgrade rockers too.

I thought you just didn't need the tensioner for the double roller to work? Not sure about bad chains though. Now I'm concerned and I'm told I do need a double roller for the purposes of running higher rpm. Who else has double rollers?

The bad batch of double rollers are from a few years back, they're all squared away now. You do need to mill the cover of the chain so it'll fit.

I see. Does anyone sell covers or have specs for how the cover should be milled?

and either disable or remove the balance shaft. oil pump cover needs to be milled down. I have a double on mine right now, it was pretty snug.

You will need a milled oil pump cover to clear the double roller; zzperformance sells them. It does not reuse the balance shaft or the tensioner. You can pull the shaft out and thread a plug in the hole in the back of the block, and you will shed about 4lbs or so.
