ok guys i got my motor pulled appart and i guess i have 2 bad lifters, so far cant find any other damage. my stepdad says i should go ahead and put some performance parts in their. what should i put in and where do i buy it from? i know i need lifters but what else do i need to replace with the lifters?

comp cam oe-r lifters i understand are good for the 3.8. what is your budget?? you could always maybe put a GT-1 cam in it, with a set of 105lb springs, and a nice set of roller rockers as well.

well my uncle did everything and he knows his stuff he is a mechanic. i guess i have 2 bad lifters and need a new water pump. parts and everything is costing about 350 for all gaskets 12 lifters and water pump. he may charge me about 500 for labor. what do you guys think of that deal about 800 roughly. that a good deal. i mean he spent about 20 hours on my motor by the time he finished.

do not get comp cams oe-r lifters. they are too noisy. Get the comp cams OE ones. Unless you like hearing your lifters while you drive, I know I don't and I am swapping to some ls7 ones soon.

i was told not to worry about my cam because i would run into problems and all the parts he sugested i buy were from advance auto parts oem replacement parts.Comment

I would rather buy 12 Comp Cam OE lifters than anything from advance. Never been a fan of parts they sell other than waterpumps. Yea why did you ask if you could do anything if your not going to? Waste of my time to read it and others. By the way to put a cam in you don't have to pull the heads. And for your INFO: depending on how many miles I would pull the heads, clean them up and put new gaskets on since you are already that close. Don't forget to use new rocker bolts and head bolts.Comment
