alright i am wanting to build a turbo engine for my 97 camaro rs. i just bought the block and i am trying to decide on pistons, rods, cam etc. im trying to get the best parts i can and take my time. i would rather do it right the first time around then put it in and pop the engine. im also debating on if i should bore it over and is so how much?
what are your goals for the engine? A stock bottom end can take quite the punishment of a turbo and pistons and rods may not be needed if your power goals don't need them. Mainly the tuning is what is key for turbo engines and longevity
well im wanting to possibly reach 500hp to 650hp and as far as parts all i really have is the block so im wanting to build it from ground up. i want it to be a street car and just cruise around on weekends and stuff but have the power to take it to the drags or drift track when i want too.
well im going to take my time and buy it piece by piece so price doesnt really matter that much. i would rather get the right parts then taking a shortcut and paying for it later. i did consider the 4.2 stroker kit but from what ive heard they are not as reliable granted ive never talked to anybody with it either. just mainly mechanics
i dont have any huge mods but i do have a cold air intake that i made out of 3" spectra flex tube and a huge spectra air filter and relocated the iat by the air filter. i also have kyb agx shocks in the rear. i dont really have track time goals but i would like the setup to be pretty well rounded between street, drift, and drag. all my gears are oem but was considering buying a z28 or ss rear end so i get the lsd and rear disks
who would you suggest as far as pistons? im basically going to build this motor completely then try to take a 3 day weekend and swap it. and the block is guaranteed by the warehouse i buy them from. they have a ton and it was only $100 for the block

ya but they are not going to gurantee the work you did to it if you find out something is wrong with the block...they'll give you another block and you have to start at square 1 with the work again...
the cartuning kit is making some nice hp numbers...with that turbo kit only we have a local guy putting down 400rwhp with no other mods done (except fuel pump)
I would say that kit, along with a nice turbo cam, a nice set of heads, and a custom intake manifold...you'll be at your goal no problem.
Not much going on, replaced my Kenwood double din stereo with a Pioneer double din, the Kenwood had problems. Then replaced my power inverter for my reverse...
