  • car wont start

ok after dissambling my car and putting it back together I cannot get it to start for the life of me. I have all the sensors connected(except the one on the alternator wiring harness) can't figure where that goes for the life of me. Also the ground cable in the back of the driver head block isnot connected. When I put the negative cable on the battery it burst a spark and almost shocked me. Should I just take it to a mechanic?

Its gotta have the ground hooked up. Put that back on and go from there.

    Pics of the alternator wire?

I dont recognize that pigtail off the top of my head, but my first guess would be the ac compressor. Is it turning over after the ground was hooked up?

no the car doesn't start at all. There is no spark and it just doesn't turn over. its weird because it chimes even if the key is not in the ignition and the gauges flip out too.

dood....hook your grounds up. seriously...please done tear apart your car if your not 100% percent on how to put it back together.

and a mechanic will charge you like 80 bucks to do 45 min of work.

^This is correct. Also make sure you get that ground hooked up, i beleive that that ground has to do with the ign. module. so i can only imagine what kinda crazy crap would happen without it. Also what did you do as far as disassembly? what had you taken off and put back on, i ask so i can get an idea of what may be causing this.

I replaced the head gaskets but I had help from my dad.(mechanic for 35 years) I did most of the work, which explains it not starting lol. Someone told me it might be a pinch in a hot wire somewhere or it might be the VATS(highly doubt it). Also my ignition coils are labeled (1,4)(5,2)(1,4) I have no idea why it's like this. Read online it might be to disable vats? I don't know and I just want to get this thing started. It was running fine before I took it apart(aside from the INTAKE leak, not GASKET) so I did the heads for nada.

disregard the numbers on the coils, those are to help identify wire positioning.
I would disagrre about the vats idea. I would start with getting that ground connected first then double check all your electrical connections. Reason being that a "floating ground" can cause all sorts of trouble. Also if you can you can try getting any DTC's if any are being thrown.

Lol well like an idiot I had the OBD tool plugged in on my car while connecting the battery ground and I smelled something burning. Sure enough it was the OBD tool and it got fried. One of the connector pins stayed stuck on my car connector lol.

You shouldn't be allowed to work on cars. Disconnect the battery cables at the battery, connect any loose grounds. Srsly...

Yeah but when you have no patience and is anxious to get it running, you overlook things. I know it's my fault.
