Re: GTP motor into a 1997 Camaro

Why not just buy his setup? $3000 gets you the modified top swap setup. Saves you the trouble of headaches and work waiting on the machine shops, and takes your money, all in one fell swoop. ;)

Lol I too, had my dreams crushed when I searched for this swap. You'd have better luck getting anal from a nun than performing this swap efficiently. Honestly, while the engine is out, go ahead and throw a cam, and supporting mods at it, it'll be a nice upgrade from stock. Also, I'm not sure your capabilites with a welder, but I hear from great sources that welding a quarter on the top of the piston yeilds great results because of upping the compression. I've been wanting to try a half dollar for a long time, just haven't had the time.

I dont need anthing from a machine shop. Its not that hard to cut a hole and run intake tubing. And by the way who of all of you has either done this before or has done tue required research to do it, or do all of you sit infront of your computers and say " no thats hard, it cant be done" grow some balls and do something that no one has done before! So if anyone wants to give me advice on how to do it that would be appreciated if not shut your mouth.

You're the one that asked for advice? I mean, I've never put a veyron engine in a vette or something, but i'd say it'd be easier to turbo the factory engine and have fun. Even though it won't make the same power, it'd still be enough to have fun, especially over stock. Now, you sound pretty arrogant, so I will give you no more advice, even though 90% of my post was a joke. Ha So anyway, make a build thread, and let's see it happen. If not, shut your mouth.:D

Most of these guys are right though, it's not a plug and play swap. It's not a weekend project, but if you want it done bad enough, go for it. Be unique, but sometimes being unique cost a lot of money. Lol

Personally if I'm going to spend a ton of money and have complete unique car I would swap the 8.1 big block into a 4th gen f-body. But if you want to do it go for man, and defiently post pics :D

Hmm... let's see. What did I do that's related to this swap other than advise others not to do it? Oh wait... I saw the original C67 (first attempted and successful M90 top-swapped F-body outside of the trashed factory concept) in person, met the guy who built it, and thought very hard about buying it. Then looked at doing my own top swap, which included an assload of research and picking up a spare Gen III M90. Hell, almost picked up a Gen IV M90, but decided to give it to the boyfriend for his GP. After looking at the machine work, costs, tuning mess, and headaches it would take, I finally decided it was best to put the money elsewhere.

So yeah... don't take the advice of perceived "experienced" members on this board. They don't know what they're talking about.

You ask for advice and you'll end up getting maybe 300 WRHP or alittle more at the wheels before its heat soaked and your putting down maybe 250 WRHP, turbo route nice turbo 400-450 WRHP + and have a intercooler, no ones done a setup like mine with 3" oval tubing under a Tub. K with a GT35R watercooled turbo, so my balls must be huge.LOL Even nitrous would get you more WRHP if you want to compare dyno #'s. I have had a PD and then nitrous, and now I hope to get my turbo on , I think I might leave the heads/intakes alone and not add my other mods just yet, since the turbo is easy to take on/off once I get the DP set up to the exhaust. Like said you ask the question so deal with the responses, becuase everyone will have a diffferent view. After having 2 out of the 3 so far I think the turbo will have the best overall wrhp for DD and at the track. But already having a built, cammed , forged engine is a plus to begin with. :burn: We get alot of guys who are new and post that there going to do all this work and after a month they don't post anymore or their car got wrecked , stolen or maybe they were deported who knows but they are never heard from again. So until some pics are shown of progress this thread means nothing. The real deals will back up their posts with pics and whats been done.
