  • GTP motor into a 1997 Camaro

I recently bought a GTP motor so that I could steal the bottom end for my camaro. I took it all down to bare minimums and a friend told me that I could actually use the whole engine and supercharger, all i would have to do is notch the firewall a little for the throttle body and run some minor wiring and tubing. Has anyone heard of someone doing this before? and if so how did they do it? Im not worried about software and the tune aspect of it cause I have HPtuners but im just looking for advise. -Thanks

See link below. It takes a lot more than a simple notch in the firewall. And don't even dream of doing this to a daily car.

the holden sc hits the wall as well, short version, better have a good friend with a machine shop or your own machine shop to hack up the housing and weld in your own inlet.

It is more work than your buddy says, lol

From being here since 2005, I've read a lot about it and I don't think its worth all the hassle, honestly.

Not worth the time or money , might as well install a Powerdyne I got 288HP and 330 TQ on the dyno with the VS cam and other mods, but for getting money worth WRHP wise , a turbo should do you fine, mine total cost so far would be about $4500 which is a long list and I will also have some extra stuff to sell afterwards also, labor so far for welding and making my Y pipe with 3" oval pipping is $300 but its all done just need to do the DP and do 4 welds. Also bought a Aeroforce scanne gauge with EGT probe $350, AEM electric boost controller $225 and 1.5 gal. trunk mount progressive kit $375 ,turbo blanket and a polished cover $250 went with 3" oval piping $550 , also a GT35R turbo $1300 and then a bigger intercooler and pipping and Tial BOV and Tial wastegate $700, 65LB injectors $330 which cost more but worth it in the end. The under K can be done for $1500 to $2000 using new used parts , some turbo parts should be bought new like the turbo so you know its not going to crap out on ya unless you know the person. But a good turbo will be at least $800 which is where most of the money will be spent. But a used kit can be just as good as a new kit so thats why I say picking up used parts can pay off.

96' Camaro M5 to A4 conversion, alot of mods . GT35R Turbo full suspension. Built engine

Your clearence issues with the trottle body and such will be no different than anybody else that has tried or done the same. What makes having the motor out of the car change the whole firewall issue?
