    Re: Good build?

I know I love my 3.73 gears with the auto, takes off the line like crazy. It would be great for nitrous also. Since with a 26" tire 3rd gear will go up to 122mph.

      Re: Good build?

Your goals are a little high even with nitrous, full bolt ons and a cam. Sorry but you may want a powerdyne kit or turbo for the numbers your wanting.

        Re: Good build?

i have thought about switching my gears to 3:73s, even 4:10s but how is the gas mileage? this is my daily driver other than a ninja zx7r and will see the track every now and then. Ive got the dry nozzle already cuz thats my old kit, i upgraded to the wet kit.

Ive thought about putting a powerdyne kit together, maybe in the future. When i get the heads PP'd i think ill be happy where im at with power, ill be happy at 330ish to the wheels on nitrous after the port/polish job. i mainly started this project to give my baby a little more kick and just went all out with it lol.

As for the injectors from zzp.. are they plug and play? or do i have to mod them to make them fit?

            Re: Good build?

If you have Hptuners and a wideband you'll def. get good gas mileage. Stock tunes are usally rich on the top end. I would stay with 3.73's for a auto , just becuase for the track you'll end up having to shift into 4th gear I believe if running a good amount of power. Reason why 3.73's get better gas mileage is becuase you only have to give it a 1/4 amount of gas to get it going ,instead of 1/2 throttle with 3.23's or 3.42's. I have had 3.23, 3.42 and now 3.73's and their def. the best. I can't wait to get a stall to increase the performance even with 3.73's after every gear change I'm always above 3000 RPMS where my cam is in good range from 3000-6200 RPMS. So thats something else to look at.

              Re: Good build?

While you are rebuilding the motor, I'd also secure the heads down with studs instead of the stock style bolts. Better to be built up too much than not enough IMHO, especially if this car is going to be put on the track.

clevite bearings from zzp's website, standard size im guessing, being theres no options in sizing like with the main bearings and rod bearings. their in straight and lined up perfect with the oil holes. Old cam wont fit in either.

pretty pissed off right now being the crank and pistons are already installed and id have to take at least the crank itself out to install new cam bearings. But to not mess anything up id take out the pistons as well

i think i may have caused a little lip to form on the bearings with the homemade tool i made. im gunna tare the block down to nothing, order some new bearings, and take it to my machine shop. i hear their pretty cheap to install. waste of $21.99 not too bad lol

ZZP will always take them back , Scott is pretty cool guy. But like said make sure they don't fit first for sure.

Nice, I got my Clev. 77 bearings from ZZP or it might have been Intense in 03' and they were good back then, still good today with over 50,000 on the engine. Good luck with the build.
